Social Media Content Strategist & Copywriter
$4,000 to $5,000/month · US-based, fully remote · 9am to 5pm PST · Contract to W-2

The short version
We need a copywriter who's great at organic short-form content: reels, TikToks, Shorts. You'll come up with the ideas, write the hooks and scripts, and make sure the final video sounds like a real person talking.
Organic is the core of this job, but it isn't the whole job. We also write ad scripts, VSLs, landing pages, emails and texts for our clients. The person we want most is comfortable across all of it. If organic is your strength and you're newer to the rest, we can help train you, but someone who already writes long-form and paid copy has an advantage for this role.

IMPORTANT: We know you’ll use AI and encourage it. HOWEVER, if you cannot tell AI what AI-written content looks and sounds like, this is not the role for you. We use AI for speed and efficiency, but we need someone who is comfortable with AI and creative in copywriting, so they don't need it to write good copy.
About us
The Scale Space is a marketing agency that runs full-funnel growth for clients: paid ads, automation and marketing strategy. We're a small team based in North Hollywood, CA, and we work fully remote. We promise clients revenue and clean data. Traffic, clicks and likes don't count unless they turn into money for the client.

Why organic comes first
Organic short-form is the hardest copy to write. It has a structure, but it has to be short, it has to hold attention with no ad budget behind it, and it has to sound like someone talking to a friend. Most copywriters can't do it. Their stuff reads like an ad (or worse like AI slop), and people scroll past ads.
Ad scripts, VSLs, landing pages and emails use the same skill with a different structure and more room. That's why we want one person writing all of it. The best paid content we run looks exactly like the content people follow by choice, and the landing page should sound like the video that sent them there.
Everything we make, paid or organic, has to pass one test. Would it work as an organic post?

What success looks like
First 30 days
  • You know every active client's voice, offer and audience well enough to write without a briefing call.
  • You're shipping short-form scripts at full volume, and they only need light edits.
  • You've pitched at least one idea nobody asked for, and it got made.

First 60 days
  • Your organic and paid copy needs slight reviews, not a rewrite.
  • You're giving working with our media buyer enough hooks and variants that testing never stalls waiting on copy.
  • You've shipped a VSL or long-form sales script that's live and getting traffic.

First 90 days
  • You're running content direction for the client book with light oversight.
  • Something you wrote moved a real number, and you can point to which piece and why.
  • The team pulls from your swipe file.

We measure hold rate and watch time on your content, how your hooks do against the current winner, whether you ship on time, the conversion rate on the pages and email sequences you write, and how much of your first drafts we have to rewrite.
This probably isn't for you if
  • Your content looks like an ad.
  • You only want to write for social and don't want to touch ads or sales copy.
  • Your scripts read fine on the page but fall apart when someone says them out loud.
  • You need someone to hand you the idea before you can write.
  • You plan to paste in AI output and call it done.
  • You've never posted anything yourself, or you learned social from a course.
  • You want a quiet remote job to coast in.
How we work
  • Speed Is King. Momentum over sitting tasks, progress before perfection.
  • Extreme Ownership. Treat the business like your own, fill gaps, bring ideas.
  • Results Over Excuses. Half done is not done. Output quality over effort.
  • Never Stop Growing. Noticeably better every 90 days.
  • Clear and Direct Communication. Speak up early, bring solutions with problems.

What you'll do
You'll write and curate content ideas for 8 to 10 brands across med spa, hospitality, real estate and home services.
A Week at the scale space would include…
1. Organic short-form
  • Come up with the content ideas for each client. Nobody's going to hand you a brief with the idea already in it.
  • Write the hooks and scripts for reels, TikToks and Shorts, with several hooks per idea so we can test them.
  • Write the way people talk, with contractions, interruptions and half-finished thoughts.
  • Keep up with formats and pacing. What held attention eight months ago doesn't now.
  • Watch what's performing across our accounts and use it to decide what we make next.

2. Ads content
  • Write ad scripts, hooks and primary text for Meta and Google.
  • Build variants that get tested against each other.
  • Rework ads that are wearing out, based on what the data says.

3. Long-form and funnel copy
  • VSLs and long-form video sales scripts, written to be spoken just like your short-form.
  • Landing page and funnel copy: headlines, body, proof sections, form and button copy.

4. Email and SMS
  • Email campaigns, launch and event sequences, nurture and reactivation.
  • Texts that read like a person sent them and still get people to act.

Our expectation is that with everything you work on you will…
  • Read every script out loud before you send it.
  • Check your own work. Offers, dates, prices and disclaimers should be right before anyone else sees them.
  • Keep a swipe file of what's working so the team never starts from a blank page.

How we use AI
Claude, Grokbot, ChatGPT, and other tools are a part of how we work. You'll use these and more every day for research, first drafts, variations, and speed, because we want you fast.
You should be able to look at an AI draft, say exactly what's wrong with it, and fix it until it sounds like the person who's going to say it.

What we're looking for
  • You post on social yourself or have posted for clients in the past.
  • You've written short-form scripts that got filmed, and you can show the view counts.
  • You've written in someone else's voice: creator scripts, UGC, ghostwriting for a founder/client
  • You've written some of the bigger stuff too: ad scripts, VSLs, landing pages, email sequences. You don't need all of them, but every one you've done well puts you ahead.
  • You have 2+ years writing content or scripts, ideally for several brands or creators at once.
  • You know the platforms: formats, pacing, what Instagram is pushing right now, how TikTok is different, and where Reels and Shorts split.
  • You care about the numbers. Watch time and hold rate on organic, cost per lead and conversion on paid. You've had content flop and you can explain why.
  • You can switch voices. A med spa, a boutique hotel and a roofing company in the same week, and none of them sound like you.
  • Your written and spoken English is native or near-native. You're writing dialogue.
  • You're US-based, you can work 9am to 5pm PST, and this would be your only full-time job.

What we Offer:
  • $4,000 to $5,000/month USD, based on experience.
  • You start as a contractor. After a 30 to 90 day trial, if it's a fit for both of us, you move to W-2 with benefits. We want to see you on real client work before we commit, and you get to see how we work too.
  • It's fully remote, permanently, and we judge you on what you ship.
  • This is a long-term seat. You'll be the person who decides what we make and writes it, and the content team grows under you as the client book grows. We promote from inside when someone earns it.
Tools
  • Instagram and TikTok (as a real user),
  • CapCut or similar,
  • Claude,
  • Meta Ads Manager
  • GoHighLevel,
  • Google Workspace
  • Slack,
  • Notion
  • Loom.

We would prefer someone who is proficient with AI tools but we'll teach you any tools you don't know.
