About the role

We are looking for a skilled and passionate Software Engineer to join our Billing & Monetization Team in the New York City office. Working in a bootstrapped and profitable scaleup, you'll build the systems that power how our agentic AI products are metered, priced, and billed, turning AI usage into reliable, transparent revenue for a fast-growing, category-defining company.

Why DataSnipper?

Audit and finance are still massively manual, and we're changing that.

DataSnipper is a $1B, bootstrapped unicorn with 600,000+ users across 180+ countries, already embedded in the daily workflows of top audit and accounting firms. Now, we're bringing AI directly into where the work actually happens through our agentic products, and monetizing AI usage at scale is central to how we grow.

As our agentic products expand, so does the complexity of measuring and monetizing them. Credit consumption, usage-based billing, and transparent pricing are core to the business, and the systems behind them need to be accurate, real-time, and trustworthy. If you want to build the infrastructure where AI usage meets revenue at scale, this is the place.

What You Will Do

  • Design, build, and operate the credit, metering, and billing systems that power monetization across our agentic AI products, from real-time usage tracking and credit consumption to invoicing and revenue reporting.

  • Write high-quality, well-tested Python that runs reliably in production, where financial correctness, accuracy, and auditability matter.

  • Build and scale services that meter AI and agent usage in real time, enforce credit limits and entitlements, and integrate with pricing, payments, and financial systems.

  • Model and evolve data in Postgres and MongoDB, making sound choices about schema, consistency, and performance for billing-critical workloads.

  • Ship and run services across our Azure and GCP environments, with an eye to observability, security, and cost.

  • Use AI-assisted coding tools and agentic coding harnesses as a core part of how you work, to move faster, raise quality, and take on harder problems.

  • Work with the agentic tools and models that power our products, and help ensure their usage is metered and attributed correctly for billing.

  • Partner closely with Product, Finance, and other Engineering teams to turn pricing and packaging decisions into robust technical implementation.

  • Take ownership of features end to end, from design through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.

  • Contribute to a culture of experimentation, learning, documentation, and operational excellence.

What You Bring

  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a software engineer building scalable, reliable, and high-quality software systems in production.

  • Strong proficiency in Python and solid fundamentals in software architecture, distributed systems, and API design.

  • Experience with relational and document databases, ideally Postgres and MongoDB, including data modeling and query performance.

  • Experience building and operating services on cloud infrastructure, ideally Azure and/or GCP.

  • A seasoned user of AI development tools, with hands-on fluency in AI-assisted coding and agentic coding harnesses, and a track record of using them to ship better software faster.

  • A focus on correctness, reliability, observability, and maintainability, especially where accuracy matters.

  • Strong product sense; you can reason about the business and pricing needs behind what you build and make good tradeoffs.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-moving scale-up environment.

  • A track record of taking ownership and shipping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building billing, metering, payments, or monetization systems, ideally involving usage-based or credit-based pricing.

  • Experience integrating with payment providers, billing platforms, ERP and financial systems.

  • Familiarity with monetizing AI or agentic products, including token or usage metering and cost attribution.

  • Hands-on experience with agentic tools, LLMs, and model orchestration in production.

  • Understanding of financial correctness concerns such as idempotency, reconciliation, auditability, and revenue recognition.

  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools.

  • Experience working in startups or scaleups.

  • Experience in fintech, audit technology, or document-intensive workflows.

  • Strong understanding of testing strategies and engineering quality practices.

What we offer

  • Excellent salary + stock participation plan

  • Flexible paid time off

  • Comprehensive medical and dental coverage

  • 401K match

  • Paid parental leave

  • Company-sponsored lunch

  • Hybrid mode of work (at least 3 days onsite in our New York City office)

  • Being part of one of the fastest-growing scale-ups in the Netherlands

  • Make an impact by disrupting the finance industry with us

  • A flexible and growing organization with lots of opportunities to learn and develop

  • International working environment, with a team of friendly and driven colleagues

  • Access to OpenUp and Talkspace, the mental health and wellness platform

  • Multiple social activities for team building 🤩
