Job Summary

FreeWheel is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Buyercloud (formerly Beeswax) Ad Serving team. The Ad Serving system is the backbone of the Buyercloud platform. It listens to billions of ad auctions per day, decides which of our hundreds of customers should participate, and executes complex bidding strategies to provide optimal results, in milliseconds
Job Description
Responsibilities:
  • Design and build data-driven and model-driven features for our customers to execute their marketing campaigns effectively.
  • Scale our distributed application and infrastructure to the next level.
  • Optimize algorithms and software architectures to save cloud hosting costs.
  • Support and extend the observability stack to capture and alert on any issues.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and be an escalation contact for service incidents.
  • Write systems documentation, playbooks, and other instructional manuals.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

Working conditions
  • The Software Engineer 3 must successfully work with team members located in multiple remote locations and time zones. Working conditions agree with conditions described within FreeWheel's company handbook unless explicitly noted in this document.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Five years of software engineering experience.
  • A deep understanding of what it means to build systems at scale.
  • Experience with optimizing performance, scaling and data modeling.
  • A strong grasp of software architecture.
  • Significant experience with compiled languages, such as C++, Java, Rust, and Go.
  • Experience working in a Linux ecosystem.

Salary:
Primary Location Pay Range: $109,759.26 - $164,638.89
Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience. The application window is 30 days from the date job is posted, unless the number of applicants requires it to close sooner or later.
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a Commission under the terms of an applicable plan, while most non-sales positions are eligible for a Bonus.
