The Software Engineer II Role.

Reality Defender is looking for a Software Engineer II to help build and support our Microsoft Teams integration, with a particular focus on the Teams bot and underlying real-time audio/video media functionality.

This is a hands-on software engineering role for someone with strong .NET/C# experience who enjoys working on integrations, real-time systems, and production applications.

The ideal candidate will have experience with Microsoft Teams, bots, meeting applications, or real-time media streaming. However, direct Teams experience is not required if you have a strong .NET background and relevant experience building real-time audio/video, communications, or similar applications.

You’ll work closely with engineering, product, and AI teams to build secure, scalable, and reliable integrations that bring Reality Defender’s detection capabilities directly into enterprise communication workflows.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain the Microsoft Teams bot and related applications using .NET and C#.

  • Develop the underlying real-time audio/video and media-streaming functionality supporting the Teams integration.

  • Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations that connect Microsoft Teams with Reality Defender’s platform.

  • Work with Microsoft Teams APIs, Microsoft Graph, and related Microsoft technologies.

  • Design and implement scalable services for real-time communications and media workflows.

  • Integrate third-party services and APIs into production applications.

  • Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions.

  • Improve the performance, reliability, scalability, and observability of integration services.

  • Write automated tests and contribute to CI/CD and engineering best practices.

  • Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.

  • Collaborate with Product and other engineering teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.

  • Take ownership of projects from design through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement.

  • Help shape the future of Reality Defender’s enterprise integrations and real-time detection capabilities.

Who you are.
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.

  • Strong professional experience developing production applications with .NET and C#.

  • Experience working in Windows and Visual Studio environments.

  • Strong understanding of .NET frameworks, libraries, and development patterns.

  • Experience designing, building, and consuming REST APIs.

  • Experience building production software with a focus on reliability, performance, and maintainability.

  • Experience with real-time audio/video, media streaming, communications, or similar technologies.

  • Experience building bots, integrations, meeting applications, or other real-time applications is highly relevant.

  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience writing automated tests and working with modern software development practices.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering and product teams.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have
  • Highly Relevant Experience

We’re particularly interested in candidates with experience in:

    • Microsoft Teams applications or bots

    • Microsoft Graph

    • .NET / C#

    • Windows and Visual Studio

    • Real-time audio/video

    • Media streaming or media processing

    • WebRTC or other real-time communications technologies

    • Meeting or collaboration applications

    • Note-taking or meeting-assistant applications

    • Voice/video applications

    • Enterprise integrations

    • Distributed or event-driven systems

AI/ML experience is a plus, but not a requirement. The primary focus of this role is the engineering behind the Teams bot and real-time media functionality.

    Nice to Have
    • Experience with the Microsoft Teams Bot Framework or Teams SDKs.

    • Experience with Microsoft Graph APIs and Microsoft 365 integrations.

    • Experience with Azure or another major cloud platform.

    • Familiarity with WebRTC, RTP, SIP, VoIP, or related real-time communications technologies.

    • Experience with audio/video processing or media pipelines.

    • Experience with messaging systems or event-driven architectures.

    • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or containerized applications.
