Who are we hiring?

The Specialist Human Resources Business Partner for the Sports & Live Events team will play a vital role in the People Practices department and serve as the connective tissue between the HRBP/ER team and our cross functional stakeholders. This role will provide generalist support activities for the Sports Division while working closely with the broader Sports & Live Events HRBP and ER team. The Specialist will utilize a broad knowledge base of human resources best practices, as well as a high level of confidentiality and discretion. The ideal candidate must be comfortable synthesizing, visualizing, and interpreting data in support of our team and clients. The Specialist will be comfortable working independently and as part of a team to ensure accuracy and efficiency in daily operations and strategic initiatives for the Sports Division, Live, Productions, and Venues teams.

What will you do?

  • Create materials for executive meetings, run and analyze reports, co-create the agenda for team meetings, and help to draft internal communications in collaboration with the VP of HR.
  • Support the VP HRBP and the team in developing and executing HR initiatives and implementing various HR-related projects such as developing new policies, coordinating employee engagement, and executing MSG’s HR strategy.
  • Partner with People Investment and People Acquisition on the creation of all open requisitions for various divisions.
  • Review, process, and track employee actions (e.g., hires, transfers, promotions, terminations, receipt of disciplinary notices, etc.). Prepare necessary paperwork, obtain approvals, and ensure timely entry into online system and maintain accurate organization charts.
  • Assist in the resignation process which includes sending initial resignation email, processing the term profile, confirming vacation payout with manager, scheduling exit interview and coordinating off-boarding efforts.
  • Ensure fair and consistent application of company policy and procedures, while promoting a positive employee morale. This includes performance management, interpersonal issues, learning techniques, the issuance of corrective actions, the development of performance improvement plans, conflict resolution, and general application of company policy.
  • Remain up to date on employee-related policies, PTO, benefit and payroll information, to assist employees with inquiries.
  • Support organization design and reorg work by maintaining accurate org charts for assigned businesses.
  • Partner with clients and finance during the budget process to ensure job descriptions and comp evaluations are accurate.
  • Work with clients and Legal to initiate Independent Contractor contracts and guide the leaders through each step as it relates to getting the contractor setup for payment; this includes monitoring contingent workforce population term dates to ensure either extension of workers or smooth exit.
  • Support the rollout and implementation of various People Practices initiatives across assigned businesses.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 3+ years of experience in Human Resources management or related field of work.
  • Experience working in a human resources department, knowledge of human resources processes and best practices.
  • Ability to synthesize, visualize, and interpret data to inform HR and business-related decisions. Must be comfortable taking raw data and converting it into presentations to inform and influence stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication, strong interpersonal/customer service, organizational and time management skills required; proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint preferred.
  • Highly organized with an ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to anticipate needs, take ownership of tasks, and look for ways to add value without constant direction.
  • Possess exceptional attention to detail and strong follow-up skills necessary.
  • Must have the ability to work independently when necessary, and use sound business judgment.
  • Exhibit a positive and professional demeanor while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality and business ethics
  • Demonstrate integrity, tact, diplomacy, and a commitment to company values and Human Resources principles while ensuring the upmost consistency.
  • Must have strong problem solving, reasoning, motivational, and organizational abilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of HCM Oracle, Tableau and Greenhouse Systems preferred.

Pay Range
$65,000$95,000 USD
