Join us on our journey as a Sr. Accountant - Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting! Resideo is seeking a talented, enthusiastic, detail-oriented Sr. Accountant - Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting in our Financial Reporting group who enjoys working in a dynamic environment. 

The Sr. Accountant - Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting will report to the Sr. Accounting Manager of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting. This position will contribute to the monthly close and external reporting processes, ensuring compliance with SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission) regulations and US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), draft accounting policies, procedures, and position papers, as well as implement accounting standards updates. 

This role will assist in driving accounting excellence across the accounting organization, maintaining a strong internal control environment, and supporting internal and external audits. We are looking for a curious accountant, someone who views financial data through an objective lens and seeks to understand the operational "why" behind the numbers. The position will interface with various levels of personnel across the entire organization and is required to partner with parties within and outside Resideo to deliver accurate and timely financial information. 

 JOB DUTIES:

  • Prepare and present potential solutions and alternative accounting approaches in accordance with applicable regulations to meet underlying business objectives.
  • Ability to evaluate business situations and generate ideas for solutions; analyzes the potential effect or impact of each solution; selects appropriate solutions driving continuous improvement. 
  • Research technical accounting matters and assist in the preparation of technical accounting white papers.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with SEC, US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley regulations. 
  • Actively participates in the documentation of required disclosures associated with our quarterly and annual filings of Forms 10-Q/10-K. 
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and develop to become a subject matter expert.
  • Present critical information to other departments, management and/or external auditors
  • Assist with the development of accounting policies that drives standardization, simplification, data integrity and effective internal controls.
  • Interpret and implement new accounting standards and partner with business partners to understand operational impacts.
  • Committed to being proactive over reactionary while applying critical thinking skills.
  • Perform financial and analytical support as required. 
  • Proactively leverage AI-driven tools and automation to streamline technical research, data extraction, and routine documentation, allowing for deeper focus on high-level analytical problem-solving.      Prepare accounting entries, completes accounting closing transactions and consolidation steps as part of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • 5+ years accounting/finance experience or equivalent public accounting experience
  • 3+ years-experience with quarterly and annual SEC reports
  • 3+ years- experience interpreting or implementing complex accounting standards.

  • Experience with a multinational public company 
  • Working knowledge of financial systems/applications (Workiva, HFM, Smart View, SAP) 
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments.
  • Driven self-starter who can work independently and work as a member of a team.
  • Demonstration of financial and analytical skills with the ability to think creatively and innovatively.
