The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer at Bitly, you will architect, build, and maintain infrastructure responsible for delivering data to customers, as well as transforming our petabytes of global traffic data into useful and timely insights. This team also maintains many of the data pipelines that power our internal teams, making this a key role inside the company as well! Bitly supports every country in the world and every platform imaginable. Our systems are built to process an enormous amount of data. To support our scale, our infrastructure consists of hundreds of servers, dozens of services, and numerous real-time data streams.

Responsibilities
- Work with people throughout the company to understand the goals, needs, and priorities of systems, and turn that understanding into a specific plan of action.
- Write well-tested, well-documented code.
- Build major new services and improve existing ones.
- Create pipelines to move and transform data efficiently.
- Design flexible internal and external APIs to expose our data.
- Work with a variety of data tools, both cloud-based and internal.
- Mentor other engineers on best practices and implementation approaches.
Qualifications
- You have 6+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least a year focused on data processing at scale.
- You are adept at clearly communicating technical concepts and ideas to other engineers and to other parts of the organization.
- You are an expert in SQL, and have experience with at least one cloud SQL platform, such as BigQuery or Redshift.
- You are fluent in Python.
- You are familiar with how web protocols, clients, and servers work.
- You take initiative in addressing issues or seeking support from fellow team members.
- You have experience using a flavor of version control—we use Git and GitHub to collaborate and manage pull requests.
Bonus Points
- Experience with Go (Golang).
- Experience with Scrum.
- Experience with Apache Airflow and Apache Beam.
- Experience with BI and visualization tools.
- Experience with Terraform.

Compensation
The salary range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, as well as other business and organizational needs.
Base Salary Range
$132,145—$181,699 USD
