Job Summary & Responsibilities
The Sr. Director of Data Interchange & File Management is a strategic and operational leader responsible for designing, governing, and optimizing all enterprise data-exchange processes, including file ingestion, transformation, routing, delivery, and monitoring. This role oversees the teams, technologies, and standards that enable secure, scalable, and reliable movement of data between the organization and external/internal partners. The Sr. Director sets the roadmap for modernization, automation, and operational excellence across data interchange platforms and file-based integrations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and own the long-term strategy for enterprise data interchange, file operations, and integration frameworks, including modernization, automation, and cloud-forward capabilities.
- Establish enterprise standards, policies, and architectures for secure data exchange, interoperability, data quality, and schema/format governance.
- Oversee all inbound and outbound file workflows-processing, ETL/ELT, exception management, monitoring, and partner onboarding-to ensure accuracy, SLA adherence, and operational visibility.
- Lead incident management and rapid-response processes to mitigate integration or file delivery failures.
- Collaborate on integration platform strategy (SFTP, APIs, EDI, MFT, batch) and partner with architecture, security, and infrastructure teams to improve reliability, resiliency, scalability, and observability.
- Champion tools and capabilities that enhance data management, file lineage, operational intelligence, and automation.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory, contractual, and security requirements; maintain audit readiness, internal controls, and risk management frameworks.
- Serve as the senior escalation point for critical integrations and collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, IT, Finance, Compliance, Operations, and client-facing teams to resolve systemic issues and prioritize improvements.
- Provide strategic direction for partner onboarding to improve time-to-integration, reduce friction, and strengthen external relationships.
- Develop and execute a workforce strategy including staffing, capability development, succession planning, and career progression.
- Manage budgets, vendor and service provider relationships, and resource allocation to optimize cost efficiency and performance.
- Drive process improvements, digital transformation, and automation initiatives to enhance productivity, reduce errors, and advance operational maturity.
- Define, monitor, and report KPIs and SLAs to measure performance, generate insights, and support strategic decision-making.
- Lead organizational change initiatives with clear communication, training, and stakeholder alignment to support adoption and operational transitions.
- Oversee development and maintenance of policies, procedures, internal controls, and audit documentation.

Preferred Qualifications
- 10-15+ years of experience in data interchange, Managed File Transfer (MFT), integration engineering, or file-based operations leadership.
- Strong background in enterprise data movement technologies (SFTP, AS2, MFT suites, ETL/ELT tools, API gateways).
- Proven experience leading large teams responsible for 24/7 mission-critical operations.
- Deep knowledge of data formats and standards (CSV, XML, JSON, EDI, HL7, proprietary schemas).
- Demonstrated ability to modernize legacy data exchange environments and build scalable, automated solutions.
- Strong operational mindset with expertise in SLAs, KPIs, observability, and incident management.
- Excellent communication skills for executive-level reporting and cross-functional alignment.
