Position summary
T-Mobile is America’s supercharged Un-carrier, delivering an advanced 4G LTE and transformative nationwide 5G network that will offer reliable connectivity for all. Sr Engineers, Software located in Frisco, TX will work with a team of other software, network, and systems engineers to design, implement, and deploy software which meet customers' requirements, scales easily, removes the limitations of traditional networking solutions, and supports deployment in highly available environments.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • participate in architecture and design of various software components focused on creating applications that leverage technologies such as virtualization, micro services, SDN, NFV, and Big Data platforms and technologies;

  • actively participate in all phases of software application development, including consultation, requirement analysis, system analysis, design, program analysis, programming, debugging, testing, documentation, delivery, and implementation of new software products, and customization of existing products;

  • work on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative, understand implications of work, and make recommendations for solutions;

  • drive engineering projects by developing software solutions, conducting tests and inspections, and preparing reports and calculations;

  • supervise base and associate level engineers as needed;

  • maintain awareness of current technology benefits and independently study current technology;

  • contribute to the development of others through mentoring or in-house workshops and learning sessions;

  • independently develop a full software stack;

  • interact with system engineers to define system requirement and/or necessary requirements for automation;

  • contribute to designs to implement new ideas which utilize new frameworks to improve an existing or new system/process/service;

  • review existing designs and processes to highlight more efficient ways to complete existing workload more effectively through industry perspectives;

  • understand the creation of company IPR;

  • collaborate with technical teams and utilize system expertise to deliver technical solutions;

  • contribute to new and existing technology options that support business goals; and
    maintain understanding of system protocols, how systems operate and data flows.

Specific Skills Requirement - must have educational or professional experience in:

  • Experience (1): Experience with designing, developing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-grade web and client-server applications using Java or J2EE technologies; strong expertise in building scalable backend systems using Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate/JPA, and RESTful web services, with hands-on experience in full lifecycle delivery across analysis, design, development, testing, and production support.

  • Experience (2): Extensive experience implementing microservices-based architectures using Spring Boot and Spring Data JPA; designing REST-based services; integrating with relational (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases; and applying best practices for service orchestration, API design, and modular application development.

  • Experience (3): Strong proficiency in Core Java concepts including multithreading, collections framework, generics, exception handling, data structures, algorithms, and regex; experienced in applying design patterns and MVC architecture using Struts, Spring Framework, and Hibernate ORM, along with implementing cross-cutting concerns using Spring AOP for logging and transaction management.

  • Experience (4): Hands-on experience developing responsive front-end applications using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/ES6, Angular, React, TypeScript, Node.js, AJAX, jQuery, and Bootstrap; skilled in building dynamic UI components and integrating front-end layers with backend REST APIs.

  • Experience (5): Experience deploying and configuring multi-tier enterprise applications on WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss, and Tomcat servers; proficient in build and CI/CD tools including Maven, ANT, MS Build, Jenkins, and Kubernetes; strong experience with version control systems including Git, Bitbucket, SVN, and TFS; and improving code quality using SonarQube and Log4j-based logging frameworks.

  • Experience (6): Strong background in quality engineering and automation, including unit testing with JUnit and Mockito, integration and system testing, and test automation using Selenium WebDriver, Cucumber, and TestNG; experienced in Agile/Scrum, and Kanban methodologies, defect tracking with JIRA, Bugzilla, and Remedy, and working across IDEs including Eclipse, IntelliJ, STS, and Visual Studio.

Experience and education requirements:

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management, or related, and 3 years of relevant work experience.

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management, or related, and 5 years of relevant work experience.

Telecommuting is permitted, but applicant must work from the worksite location at least 3-4 days per week. No additional national or international travel is anticipated.

    Candidate’s pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience. At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
