Leads a team of technical architects and subject matter experts within Dynatrace’s Customer Success Center of Excellence. Owns mission-critical technical topics, develops best practices and methodologies, supports customer engagements, evaluates technologies, and remains hands-on with the platform. Manages team performance, development, resources, budgets, KPIs, and project priorities while scaling technical expertise across the organization and collaborating with R&D, sales engineering, and other stakeholders.

The Center of Excellence team is responsible for increasing the ability to scale platform expertise across the entire Dynatrace Customer Success organization. Focused on topics that drive Dynatrace value, adoption and retention with customers, the Center of Excellence acts as a point of contact for Dynatrace Customer Success for specialized customer engagements, proliferation of best practices and driving of key enablement activities. The Center of Excellence engages in cross-functional collaborative activities to ensure that all departments within Dynatrace Customer Success have the right tools and knowledge at their disposal to further drive customer value.

As a Sr. Managing Architect in the Center of Excellence team, you are an Architect who leads a focused team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). You retain full ownership of one or more mission critical topics — including (but not limited to) logs, security, cloud, Kubernetes, developer observability, business analytics and digital experience management — and you are yourself a Subject Matter Expert who defines best practices together with stakeholders to scale specialized expertise within Dynatrace Customer Success. Alongside that technical ownership, you carry formal people leadership responsibility for a team of CoE architects and consultants.

The emphasis of this role is technical. You are expected to remain hands-on and technically current: you write, review and defend the technical substance of what your team and the CoE produces rather than only managing its production. Your people leadership is the multiplier on that expertise — you steer the team to effective and efficient contribution across a wider set of high-priority topics, and you deliberately grow technical depth in others so that expertise in your area does not depend on you alone.

Responsibilities:

Technical ownership:

  • Topic ownership — own all aspects of one or more mission critical topics, creating the deliverables required to scale that expertise and driving asset creation
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise on mission critical topics, and remain hands-on with the platform while carrying leadership responsibility
  • Develop, document and promote best practices, reference models and solution methodologies for use across Dynatrace Customer Success
  • Digest technical resources from various sources into tangible and executable strategies
  • Lead or support customer engagements and pilots together with an existing customer account team, and extract learnings into verified best practices
  • Assess and recommend new technologies, tools and frameworks to enhance customer engagement
  • Collaborate with stakeholders within Dynatrace Customer Success, R&D, Sales Engineering and other technical teams
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship within Dynatrace Customer Success, supporting skill development and knowledge sharing
  • Support scaling of expertise to broader Dynatrace Customer Success teams
  • Contribute to thought leadership assets and activities

Team leadership:

  • Manage a focused team of SMEs within the Center of Excellence function in Dynatrace Customer Success, with responsibility for performance, development and retention
  • Grow technical depth in others — mentor and coach your team against the topics the CoE must cover, and raise the technical bar with every hire
  • Prioritize tasks against a wider set of topics and asset needs
  • Implement processes to balance resources for supporting customer facing engagements, best practice development and providing input and support for GTM programs
  • Lead the team, managing resources and budget accordingly
  • Define, track and manage key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness and impact of your team’s contribution, and drive continuous improvement
  • Oversee projects and initiatives within your area of expertise
  • Ensure effective customer feedback processes and incorporate into development of best practices, as well as prioritize and relay feedback to product teams
  • Align with strategic initiatives and drive prioritization of asset creation based on mission critical goals set on a senior executive level

Measures of Success:

  • Success in this role is proven through the combination of personal technical contribution and demonstrated ability to steer others. Neither alone is sufficient.
  • Technical credibility — recognized within Dynatrace Customer Success as a Subject Matter Expert on your owned topics, with personally authored best practices and reference material adopted in the field
  • Sustained hands-on contribution — you continue to produce and validate technical work alongside your management duties
  • Technical quality of the team’s output — deliverables produced under your leadership are R&D-verifiable, customer-case-rooted and adopted by the field
  • Multiplication — measurable growth in the technical capability and autonomy of your direct reports
  • Customer impact — adoption, value realisation and retention outcomes on the engagements you and your team support
  • Scaling reach — the best practices and enablement your team produces are taken up by Dynatrace Customer Success teams outside the CoE

Minimum Requirements:

  • Technical degree (i.e. Computer Science, Computer Engineering) or relevant work experience required
  • 5+ years’ proven experience as a consultant or architect working on highly technical, agile teams
  • 2+ years’ experience leading technical people — formal line management, or sustained team/technical lead responsibility with accountability for the output and development of others
  • Experience with modern deployment automation tools, scripting, and methods
  • Working experience with modern IaaS, PaaS, container and Serverless cloud technologies
  • Working experience with cloud-native application design
  • Working experience with modern software engineering processes
  • Experience developing and promoting best practices, methodologies and governance frameworks
  • Must have excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, engaging peers and other departments to accomplish assigned goals, and effectively execute projects in a matrix environment
  • Experience with the enterprise software sales process preferred
  • While this is not a traveling role, must be willing to travel up to 25%

Why you will love being a Dynatracer:

  • We provide a culture of excellence with competitive compensation packages designed to recognize and reward performance.
