CIQ OVERVIEW

CIQ builds the enterprise infrastructure that powers the world's most demanding workloads. From the operating system layer through AI infrastructure, high-performance computing, and cloud-native orchestration, CIQ delivers the speed, security, scalability, and sovereignty that major enterprises, government agencies, and research institutions depend on.

CIQ is the founding support and services partner of Rocky Linux and the developer of the RLC Pro family of Enterprise Linux distributions, Fuzzball workload orchestration, Warewulf Pro cluster provisioning, and Ascender Pro automation. Our customers include some of the largest and most technically sophisticated organizations in the world, working across HPC, AI/ML, defense, and regulated industries.

We are a company of builders, operators, and open source practitioners. If you want to do work that matters, at a company that is genuinely changing how enterprise infrastructure gets built and run, we want to talk.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Sr. Product Designer at CIQ, you will own the end-to-end design of complex enterprise products used by engineers, operators, and administrators at some of the most technically demanding organizations in the world. You will work directly with product and engineering to define, design, test, and ship experiences that make powerful infrastructure more accessible without sacrificing depth or precision.

This is an individual contributor role with real ownership. You will not be executing tickets. You will be making design decisions that shape how our products work and feel, building systems that scale, and using research and data to validate what you build.

CIQ has embraced AI fully. You will be encouraged to use AI tools as a core part of your design and prototyping workflow, as well as contribute to and mature workflows and internal design processes.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Own design from discovery through delivery across one or more product areas.
  • Contribute to and grow the CIQ design system
  • Conduct user research and usability testing with technically sophisticated enterprise users.
  • Define and track design quality metrics and use them to drive iteration.
  • Prototype rapidly to explore and communicate ideas.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other designers throughout the full development cycle.
  • Contribute to design culture and process on a small, high-ownership team.

NEEDED TO SUCCEED

Successful candidates will have:

  • 4+ years of product design experience with a portfolio demonstrating complex enterprise B2B product work.
  • Deep experience designing data-heavy interfaces, multi-step workflows, admin tools, or developer-facing products.
  • Strong interaction design and visual design skills with demonstrated ability to work across both.
  • Hands-on experience with user research, usability testing, and measuring design outcomes.
  • Proficiency in Figma
  • Active use of AI tools in design and prototyping workflows
  • The ability to operate independently, drive decisions, and move fast without waiting for direction.
  • A friendly, collaborative, humble, honest, and always striving to be better attitude.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven work experience as a product designer on technically complex B2B or enterprise software products.
  • Portfolio required, demonstrating shipped product work and the thinking behind design decisions.
  • Experience working on small design teams or as the primary designer for a product area.
  • Background in a growth-stage technology company, preferably in developer tools or data. Infrastructure, analytics, security, or a related technical domain.
  • No specific degree required; demonstrated skill and experience are what matter.

BENEFITS

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.

  • Flexible paid time off.

  • Employee stock options.

  • Remote work; no travel required for most positions.
