We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant who wants to play a key role in supporting the financial operations of a growing organization.

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, inventory reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and supporting management with financial analysis. This role works closely with operations, purchasing, sales, and logistics teams to ensure accurate financial records and timely reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts payable and vendor payments processes
  • Oversee accounts receivable collections and customer account reconciliations
  • Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
  • ⁠Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
  • ⁠Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures
  • Reconcile inventory purchases, transfers, adjustments, and shrinkage
  • ⁠Analyze gross profit by customer, commodity, and business segment
  • ⁠Review freight, logistics, and transportation costs
  • ⁠Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting
  • Support annual audits, tax filings, lender reporting and insurance audits
  • ⁠Maintain accounting records in QuickBooks and various ERP systems
  • Develop and improve accounting procedures and internal controls
  • ⁠Prepare financial analyses for management and ownership; Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3-7 years of accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience preparing account reconciliations and financial statements
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and data analysis
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in produce, food distribution, wholesale distribution, logistics, transportation, manufacturing, or inventory-intensive businesses
  • Multi-entity accounting experience
  • Inventory accounting and cost accounting experience
  • SBA loan reporting, lender reporting, and covenant compliance experience
  • ERP implementation or process improvement experience
