Job Summary:
The Staff Cloud Platform Engineer role combines Staff-level Cloud Engineering and DevOps leadership to deliver and standardize scalable, resilient, and secure platform capabilities across teams. By architecting reusable automation, cloud patterns, CI/CD integrations, and observability standards, this role improves delivery quality and velocity while strengthening reliability, security, and cost efficiency for Nextech products used by our customers.

Essential Functions

  • Own delivery of platform solutions across teams and systems, aligning technical direction with business goals and customer impact.

  • Lead standardization of cloud platform patterns and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), enforcing reviews, reusable modules, and testing to improve consistency and reduce operational risk.

  • Lead CI/CD implementations and integrations across multiple teams to raise delivery quality and velocity, enabling faster and more reliable delivery of customer value.

  • Design scalable, multi-region architectures and resilient global networking patterns that improve availability, recoverability, and performance for customers.

  • Embed security and compliance by design across infrastructure and delivery tooling, driving secure baselines, hardening, and risk-based controls that protect customer data.

  • Drive telemetry and observability strategy, including meaningful SLOs and actionable alerts, to improve reliability, troubleshooting speed, and overall customer experience.

  • Influence cost planning and guardrails through tagging, monitoring, and automation to support efficient operations and sustainable customer outcomes.

  • Coach and mentor engineers, providing technical leadership, raising engineering standards, and helping teams scale platform practices effectively.

  • Communicate effectively across engineering and stakeholders, influencing decisions and resolving cross-team conflicts to align toward shared outcomes.

Minimum Requirements

  • 7+ years in software and/or infrastructure engineering roles.

  • 5+ years in Cloud/DevOps or platform-focused engineering.

  • Expertise in Azure or AWS.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction to engineers and lead delivery across teams under ambiguity.

  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and scripting/automation.

  • Expertise with secure CI/CD platforms and delivery tooling.

  • Proven experience leading high availability/disaster recovery designs, hybrid networking, and secure cloud baselines across teams.

  • Experience with Agile practices and version control systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Advanced cloud certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure) and/or multi-cloud expertise.
  • Demonstrated leadership in platform standardization and org-wide observability.

Working Environment/Physical Demands

  • 100% Remote
