Who we areAbout Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Account Abstractions team owns the representation of end-user identity across all Stripe products. We build user-facing APIs and end-to-end experiences that interoperate across the entire Stripe product suite and operate at the scale frontier for some of Stripe’s most demanding use cases.

We’re at a pivotal moment in Accounts’ evolution, unlocking platform functionality that will fundamentally shift how Stripe products work together (like expanding networked onboarding across products), and power some of Stripe’s most ambitious product roadmap goals in 2026. We’re looking for the right technical leader to define our technical direction and drive cross-cutting product delivery.

This high-visibility role requires close collaboration with engineering leaders across Stripe and the ability to set ambitious goals for a high-performing team.

What you’ll do

We are seeking an experienced technical leader to define and drive the evolution of our organization’s technical and product vision. You will operate at the intersection of engineering, product, and strategy, helping the organization navigate the technical trade-offs inherent in building a global-scale product platform.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and scale our applications, with an emphasis on reliability, scalability and usability
  • Define and design opinionated architectural strategies for improving the extensibility of our platform
  • Diagnose and identify sustainable solutions to nebulous performance challenges
  • Build high-quality end-to-end product experiences, demonstrating deep care for users' needs and serving as a steward of crafting great experiences
  • Collaborate nimbly with cross functional partners (PM), high-visibility teams and their stakeholders to support their key initiatives - navigating various types of organizational complexity with the support of your own leadership team.
  • Partner with Engineering Management, Product Manager and key leaders across the company to create and drive toward the longer term vision
  • Unblock the team to execute against both short-term and long-term roadmaps, making effective tradeoffs that consider business priorities, user experience, and a sustainable technical foundation
  • Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes
  • Teach and mentor other team members to become the next generation of leaders at Stripe
Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements
  • 10+ years experience building software systems, including both experience building user-facing products and internal platforms leveraged by other engineering teams
  • You have a user-first mindset; you care deeply about the product experience and the users who rely on the systems you build
  • You’ve set a multi-year technical strategy for an organization and successfully executed it
  • You are capable of working in ambiguous fast-moving environments and have a curiosity to learn the domain to a deep level
  • You’ve mentored senior engineers and meaningfully empowered their growth
  • You thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility
  • You have strong collaboration skills to work effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders and ship complex initiatives
  • You can communicate complex technical topics exceptionally clearly
