The Opportunity
The Dashboards team at Datadog is at the heart of our observability platform, acting as a central pane of glass that is used by all customers of Datadog. We build the services and APIs that power Dashboards, as well as shared capabilities that power other products within Datadog.
We are looking for a product-oriented Staff Engineer to work closely with product management to envision, facilitate and deliver new product offerings by identifying opportunities, researching technologies and bootstrapping initiatives. We are looking for someone who stays in touch with industry trends and demonstrates the ability to innovate in a fast-paced environment.
Existing initiatives include development of AI-powered capabilities (NLQ dashboard generation and search), building a framework for API schema versioning and increasing developer velocity by breaking up our monolithic architecture, with a deep product backlog of opportunities to explore such as enabling customers to bring their own data to the platform.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the development of high-priority, high-visibility product capabilities that exceed our customers’ expectations such as NLQ Dashboard Generation and Search
- Identify new product opportunities - advocate for and deliver on a product roadmap that best serves all Datadog users
- Lead the development and growth of key services, APIs and user experiences that power Dashboards
- Provide technical oversight and leadership across organizational boundaries
- Mentor and grow engineers on the team and beyond
- You have a BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
- You have several years of experience leading cross-team initiatives in a platform or infrastructure-focused environment
- You have a product delivery oriented mindset and strong customer empathy
- You have led the design and delivery of industry-leading systems
