About Avoca

Avoca is transforming how home service companies engage with their customers. Our AI-powered conversational agents handle every high-value inbound call, including booking jobs, qualifying leads, and driving higher revenue—all at a speed and consistency unmatched by human call centers.

We’ve expanded to 100+ employees in under two years, backed by a high-energy, in-office culture across our NYC headquarters and Santa Barbara office. In a $700B+ market where missed calls mean lost business, we’re building the category-defining platform for AI-driven customer engagement.

We’re serving the largest brands in home services, and grew 10x in 2025. With high-performance, in-office teams in NYC and Santa Barbara, we’re moving fast to capture a massive, underserved market where 85% of missed calls go to competitors. Every hire here has an immediate and visible impact.

About the Role

We're looking for a Staff Product Engineer to operate at the highest technical level, setting direction, solving our hardest problems, and raising the bar across the entire engineering org. You'll own the most consequential systems and initiatives end-to-end while shaping how we build, scale, and ship as a company. This is a role for someone who leads through technical excellence and drives outsized impact across teams.

What You’ll Do
  • Define technical architecture and own end-to-end delivery of our most complex, high-stakes initiatives

  • Drive product and engineering alignment, translating ambiguous customer problems into clear, scalable technical solutions

  • Establish and uphold engineering standards across code quality, testing, monitoring, and reliability

  • Partner directly with Product, Customer Success, and GTM leadership to shape roadmap priorities and engineering strategy

  • Serve as a technical force multiplier, elevating the output of engineers around you through mentorship, code review, and systems thinking

  • Identify and resolve systemic bottlenecks before they become company-wide problems

What You'll Bring
  • 8 - 10 years of full-stack engineering experience (we also welcome exceptional new grads with meaningful projects or internships).

  • Deep familiarity with AI, LLMs, or AI-assisted systems or a willingness to learn fast.

  • Outcome-driven mindset: you measure success in impact, not just shipped features.

  • Comfortable collaborating across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams.

  • Low ego, high energy, resilient in a fast-paced environment.

  • Bonus: prior startup, hacker, or founder experience.

  • Eagerness to work in person with us in NYC full time.

Benefits
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Company-sponsored 401(k) through Vestwell

  • Flexible PTO plus U.S. federal holidays

  • Daily in-office lunch through Parkday

  • Dinner covered when working late

  • Commuter benefits

  • Standing desks and workspace accommodations available on request

  • All core tools and software provided

Why Avoca

At Avoca, you’ll be part of a team that’s building a category-defining company at the center of a massive market opportunity. We’re a fast-moving, collaborative team with a culture designed for builders who thrive on speed, iteration, and impact.
