About the role

We’re hiring a Product and R&D Finance leader at Hex. This role has a heavy focus on monetization, product-led-growth, and the drivers behind our gross margins.

You’ll sit at the intersection of our product strategy and the financial model, analyzing pricing changes and new product launches, and guiding the business towards scalable unit economics. You’ll be the lead finance partner to our Product, Engineering, and Infra leaders, reporting directly to the Head of Finance.

What you’ll do
  • Own forecasting and planning for AI and Self Serve revenue, including the implications of usage-based pricing and model cost dynamics.
  • Model pricing and packaging scenarios. Bring a point of view on tradeoffs, and help the team understand what matters and what is noise.
  • Establish and run Self Serve ARR planning and forecasting with clear assumptions, partnering with both Product and Growth Marketing teams.
  • Build a visible, regular forecast for COGS and gross margins, including the drivers of inference and cloud spend, and how they relate to product and GTM decisions.
  • Own R&D headcount planning. Partner with EPD leaders on hiring plans, re-plans, and capacity tradeoffs.
  • Build durable reporting and self-serve access to financial information for your business partners, so Finance’s time is spent on analysis and strategy rather than assembling a spreadsheet. Exercise judgement to use AI where it’s most powerful, but not where it’s performative.
About you
  • Strong FP&A fundamentals. You can forecast, explain variance, and build driver-based models that hold up under questions.
  • You’ve done monetization and pricing analysis before. You’re comfortable modeling different scenarios and connecting them back to real product decisions.
  • You’re fluent in drivers of SaaS gross margins, across AI inference and cloud compute costs.
  • You’ve partnered closely with Product and Engineering teams. You can translate technical plans into financial implications without playing telephone.
  • You communicate clearly. You can bring structure to messy problems and drive alignment across stakeholders.
  • You have good judgment about what’s materially important, and you can prioritize without perfect information.
  • You’re comfortable building. That could mean better financial models, better processes, or better data workflows. You’re comfortable diving into ambiguous problems and recommending a solution.
  • You have 5+ years of experience working in Strategic Finance or FP&A at a fast-growing SaaS business, or equivalent experience from time spent in investing in SaaS (banking/PE/etc).

Location

  • This role is based in our San Francisco HQ or New York City office.

In addition to our unique culture, Hex proudly offers a competitive total rewards package, including but not limited to, market-benched salary & equity, comprehensive health benefits, and flexible paid time off.

The salary band for this role is: $185,000 - $235,000
The salary range shown may be a reflection of additional factors such as geographical location and skill ranges/levels we’re open to. Placement in the salary range will be decided upon completion of the interview process, taking into account factors like leaving room for growth, internal fairness & parity, your demonstrated skills, and the depth of your experience. Our Recruiting team will be able to provide more details during the interview process.

By submitting an application the candidate consents to the use of their personal information in accordance with the Hex Privacy policy: https://learn.hex.tech/docs/trust/privacy-policy.

Hex Technologies uses AI-assisted tools as part of our application review process, including for resume screening and fraud detection. These tools help our team evaluate applications and verify applicant information. All AI-generated recommendations are reviewed by a member of our recruiting team before any hiring decision is made. No application is automatically rejected based solely on an AI tool's output.
