At Citymapper (a Via company), we’re on a mission to help make complex cities more accessible to everyday users. Our application transports millions of people in hundreds of cities around the world by giving them access to the most current and sophisticated transportation options available. We make getting around your favourite city easy, so that you can enjoy the ride.

As Strategy & Operations Manager at Citymapper, you will lead a talented team of Analysts who play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of Citymapper's data. This is a hands-on, leadership-first role: you'll coach and develop your team, remove blockers, and create the conditions for them to succeed. Sitting at the intersection of product, engineering, and commercial teams, you will help set priorities, solve complex problems, and ensure the team's work drives meaningful improvements for Citymapper and its users.

About the Role

  • Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing team of Data Analysts, creating an environment where people can do their best work.
  • Own the data strategy and quality for your region across Citymapper’s web and mobile products, ensuring millions of users can rely on us every day.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations to align priorities and deliver high-impact improvements across the platform.
  • Shape the evolution of the team's tools, workflows, and automation, partnering with engineers to build systems that scale with the business.
  • Turn complex datasets into actionable insights that guide decisions and drive improvements across the product.

Who You Are

  • An experienced people leader: you have experience directly managing and developing a team, with a track record of coaching others, giving thoughtful feedback, and creating an environment where people can grow and succeed.
  • A strong operator: you bring 4+ years of experience in an operational, technical, product, or cross-functional role, and you're comfortable navigating ambiguity, balancing competing priorities, and finding a way forward when the path isn't obvious.
  • Technically comfortable: you can engage with data and product work, understand complex problems, and build trust with technical teams without needing to be the most technical person in the room.
  • A strong project manager: you bring structure to complex work, keep multiple priorities moving, and balance attention to detail with the bigger picture.
  • A clear communicator: you build trust quickly across functions and are equally comfortable in an engineering discussion, a product conversation, or a business planning session.

Nice to Have

  • Bonus points if you have experience working with data, Python, and/or common transit data formats (GTFS, TransXChange, SIRI, HAFAS, etc.), but it's not a requirement. What matters most to us is your curiosity: the willingness to dive into new topics, figure things out, and keep learning.

What We Offer

  • Salary Range: $100,000-$115,000. Total compensation also includes equity. Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills.
  • Comprehensive health coverage, with low-cost dental and vision plans.
  • A 401(k) with a generous company match and vesting.
  • Fully paid parental leave for new parents, with extended leave options.
  • Additional benefits (family planning, mental health, pet insurance, and other wellness perks).
  • 20 days of paid time off (PTO) annually.
  • Hybrid work from our New York office, with weekly team lunches.

There has never been a more exciting time to be on the cutting edge of public mobility. Ready to join the ride?
