SUMMARY

The Supporters Section Conductor is the energy leader and face of The Block, the Brooklyn Nets' dedicated supporter section at Barclays Center. The Conductor energizes and directs 100+ fans through game-day chants, traditions, and moments, creating a consistent, recognizable, and authentic home-court atmosphere. This role is the backbone of The Block's identity and requires stamina, charisma, reliability, and an ability to read and move a crowd in real time. The Conductor will have the support of our Block Committee, Advisory Committee, and Marketing team for guidance and coaching throughout the season and will receive regular opportunities for check-ins and feedback. A full playbook of chants, traditions, and in-game cues--along with all necessary Brooklyn Nets apparel--will be provided.

The Conductor will report to the Director of Marketing. This role requires attendance at all Brooklyn Nets home games, which occur on evenings and weekends, in addition to select Block Committee meetings.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Game-Day Leadership 

  • Lead supporters section through all 48+ minutes of every home game, maintaining energy and participation across all four quarters 
  • Execute signature traditions and quarter-by-quarter moments 
  • Call chants, manage synchronized crowd moments  
  • Read crowd energy and game momentum in real time; adjust chants and traditions to fit the moment (momentum runs, technical fouls, clutch time, etc.) 
  • Conduct free-throw distraction routines and other recurring traditions with precision and consistency 
  • Work seamlessly with your other members of The Block to share load, ensure coverage throughout the game, and maintain section morale over 48 minutes 

Collaboration & Development 

  • Work closely with the Advisory Team for guidance, feedback, and season-long refinement 
  • Attend Block Committee meetings (as scheduled, outside of game days) to give input on section direction 
  • Participate in onboarding and development with the Advisory Team to master playbook, chants, in-game cues, and best practices 
  • Provide feedback to Marketing team on what traditions land, what doesn't, and what fans are asking for 

Representation & On-Camera Presence 

  • Serve as the visible, recognizable face of The Block on broadcast and in the arena 
  • Demonstrate comfort being on camera and engaging with jumbotron moments 
  • Model enthusiasm, reliability, and Brooklyn authenticity for the section and wider fanbase 

KEY REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES

  • Must attend all 41 home games (illness or family emergency exceptions only, with advance notice to Director of Marketing); will arrive on-time for all games, reporting to Barclays Center with sufficient time before tip-off for pre-game preparations.
  • Ability to maintain consistent performance and energy level across the entire season
  • Deep knowledge of and passion for the Brooklyn Nets 
  • Familiarity with soccer/supporter culture or other fan-led crowd traditions is a plus 
  • Prior experience leading or energizing groups (cheerleading, sports fan clubs, event hosting, etc.) is preferred but not required 
  • Must adhere to all NBA Rules, Barclays Center policies, and The Block Code of Conduct

WHO YOU ARE

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and able to meet all physical demands of the position
  • Stamina: Ability to be on your feet and engaged for 48+ minutes, multiple times per week, without decline in energy or performance
  • Charisma & Presence: Natural ability to command attention, inspire participation, and build excitement in a crowd of 17k+ people 
  • Crowd Reading: Can sense energy shifts, momentum changes, and crowd readiness; adjust messaging and intensity accordingly 
  • Reliability & Professionalism: Shows up prepared, on time, and ready to perform; follows through on commitments
  • Team Knowledge: Familiar with Nets roster, game strategy, and roster changes; can speak intelligently about the team 
  • Communication: Clear vocal projection and ability to direct a large group with simple, memorable calls 
  • Adaptability: Comfortable workshopping new chants and traditions; willing to test ideas and iterate based on feedback

COMPENSATION

$30 per hour

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role will require onsite work at Barclays Center on evenings and weekends for all Brooklyn Nets home games, plus required committee meeting attendance.

Candidates must meet the following physical demands of the position:

  • Prolonged standing (48+ minutes per game) 
  • Frequent vocal projection and shouting 
  • Repetitive arm movements and gestures 
  • Ability to move through crowd sections as needed 
  • Comfortable working in arena environment (noise, lighting, crowds)
