The Opportunity
We are seeking a seasoned and strategic leader to join our company as the SVP Communications & Head of Public Affairs. This role is crucial in executing Compass’s communication strategies, managing our public image, leading event services, overseeing our visual brand, and directing our government affairs efforts. The SVP Communications will also lead a team of approximately 25 professionals and report to the Chief Operating Officer.

You are comfortable leading in highly fluid, uncertain environments and can be agile to adjust priorities and outcomes as needs dictate. You are hungry and curious to find new and better ways to deliver internal and external communication programs, including both traditional models and assessing new & cutting-edge opportunities across channels and have a pulse on the evolving social media landscape. You are exceedingly proficient in leveraging AI and other modalities to deliver in tight timelines with complex stakeholder management
You will bring a record of accomplishment across Communications spanning Public Relations, Government relations to innovation and results tied to delivering a cohesive communications Roadmap. You will have a pulse on the Communications competitive landscape to ensure Compass builds enterprise–wide Communications strategies and delivers programs that elevate our industry position.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Communications: Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to enhance Compass International Holding’s brand across our portfolio including Better Homes and Gardens® Real Estate, CENTURY 21®, Coldwell Banker®, Compass, Cartus and Integrated Services Brands driving a market leading communications strategy elevating our brand reputation.
- Public Relations: Serve as the primary spokesperson for the company, managing media relations and ensuring consistent messaging across all channels.
- Public Affairs: Lead the company's government relations strategy, advocating for policies and regulations that support our business objectives.
- Strategic Events & Creative Services: Oversee the planning and execution of strategic events, ensuring they align with the company's brand and strategic goals.
- Visual Brand Management: Lead the development and maintenance of the company's visual brand, ensuring consistency and alignment with our overall brand strategy.
- Crisis Management: Oversee crisis communication plans and manage responses to any public relations issues.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across Compass International Holdings and externally, including media outlets, government officials, Real Estate industry trade associations, and community leaders.
- Internal Communications: Ensure effective internal communication strategies to keep employees informed and engaged.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a high-performing communications and public affairs team of approximately 25 professionals.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or public affairs at global scale, with a proven track record of leadership in fast-growth and multi-brand environments.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in communications, Public Relations, Political Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Skills: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Strong understanding of media dynamics, event management, and government processes.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute strategic communication plans that align with Compass International Holding’s business goals.
- Strategic Counsel: Advising senior leadership on effective communication strategies to enhance Compass International Holding’s company's reputation, manage crises, and align messaging with business objectives to drive growth and stakeholder engagement.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the real estate industry and regulatory environment is a plus.
- Team Leadership & Team Empowerment: Skilled at empowering team members, fostering a collaborative environment where creativity and innovation thrive.
- Inspiring Vision: Ability to articulate a clear and compelling vision that motivates and aligns the team towards common goals.
