America in the 21st Century has seen an increase in frequency and intensity of natural disasters. Communities are dramatically changed in the matter of a few hours, and its homeowners can be displaced from their homes for years.
Rebuild is an operating system for restoration contractors who specialize in mitigating damage to homes and rebuilding them after disasters hit. Disasters can take many forms. While catastrophic events likely come to mind immediately, smaller-scale damage (such as floods, fires, mold, etc.) can also be a nuisance and displace homeowners.
AI is empowering us to meet this moment. Our initial product enables contractors to generate insurance-compliant estimates in just a few minutes, allowing them to properly get reimbursed for the work they do, get to more jobs, and repair more homes. Previously this process could take weeks and would result in very low margins for the restorer.
This is just our first step towards improving the everyday efficiency of these contractors. Climate change estimates over $210 Billion dollars in damages to property, and Rebuild is tackling the massive opportunity to help restorers move more efficiently and accurately, starting with the estimate.
We raised our Series A in Q3 2026 from Asymmetric Capital Partners with follow-ons from our earlier investors, Gutter Capital and 25Madison.
Rebuild is hiring a Talent Lead. This is a rare opportunity to build a company's hiring function from the ground up. You'll own full-lifecycle recruiting across every function, starting with two of our highest-priority pipelines: software engineering and account executives. As we grow, your scope will expand into additional functions across the company.
You'll report directly into leadership and have real influence over who joins Rebuild and how we present ourselves to candidates in a competitive market. You should be ready to contribute wherever necessary but here are the key highlights for the role:
- Own full-lifecycle recruiting: sourcing, screening, interview process design, offer negotiation, and closing across technical (software engineering) and go-to-market (account executive) roles, with more functions to follow
- Shape our Employer Value Proposition: define and articulate why top talent should join Rebuild, translating our mission and early traction into a compelling story for candidates
- Build hiring infrastructure from scratch: including interview processes, scorecards, and workflows that scale with the company as it grows post-Series A
- Partner closely with hiring managers and founders to deeply understand role requirements, calibrate on what "great" looks like, and move quickly without sacrificing quality
- Manage a multi-function pipeline simultaneously, balancing technical and GTM searches with different candidate pools, evaluation criteria, and sales cycles
- Champion candidate experience as an extension of the Rebuild brand, especially given you're often a candidate's first touchpoint with the company
- Scale the function when we hit the next inflection point of growth and be prepared to add resources to the Talent function
- Experience across the full recruiting lifecycle, from sourcing through close
- Demonstrated ability to recruit for both technical and go-to-market roles — you don't need deep engineering expertise, but you're comfortable learning enough to evaluate and sell technical talent
- Ideally you have experience in a venture backed start-up and as an external search partner either in an agency or retained firm
- A track record of building or significantly shaping hiring processes, ideally at an early-stage or high-growth company
- Strong instincts for employer branding and EVP development — you know how to tell a company's story in a way that resonates with candidates
- Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward action — this is a build-it-yourself role at a young company
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; you'll work closely with founders and hiring managers, not just execute against a spec
- Interesting and challenging work solving a mission-critical problem
- Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance
- Flexibility to choose your own tools and onboard cutting edge tools
- Flexible Vacation
- You will work directly with the founders Alex Toporek and John Reim
- Compensation range for this position is $140-200K base annual cash salary plus equity
- The Rebuild team prides itself on our office culture at 221 Canal, and we have thoughtful programming, fun events, and continuous learning fireside chats on a regular basis
