JOB DESCRIPTION

Interplay is a New York City-based innovation ecosystem building high-growth companies. We start, advise and invest in exceptional companies in AI/software, services and manufacturing verticals in the United States. We also operate a multi-family office, investing across diverse asset classes.

We’re looking for a leader to take responsibility for developing a world-class team. This person will own our talent function as part of the operations team. At Interplay, “talent” includes:

1) all things recruiting and HR

2) supporting the existing team members in their personal development

3) maintaining the office work environment

4) organizing key culture events for the team as well as external business affiliates

We have a strong preference for candidates capable of leveraging our advanced internal AI systems to streamline recruiting, talent, office and event systems.

For the right person, no task will be too big or too small; a typical day could include interviewing pedigreed CEO candidates, restocking the fridge, and everything in between. At Interplay every activity is critical and completed with pride. Our success is the sum of all of the parts.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Define talent and operational strategies and systems.

  • Lead relevant section of team meetings.

  • Oversee & customize relevant AI applications.

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting process including, but not limited to: sourcing candidates, reviewing resumes, conducting recruiter calls, assisting in scheduling interviews, compiling feedback and managing candidate communications.

  • Develop direct relationships with existing team members, providing them with operational and morale leadership.

  • Compile and help deliver feedback to team members.

  • Design and execute a seamless onboarding and offboarding experience, ensuring new hires are integrated into the culture and systems quickly, and departing employees exit smoothly.

  • Maintain and update employee records, contracts, and documentation within the HRIS (Human Resources Information System).

  • Own company compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws (e.g., EEO, FLSA, FMLA) and manage workplace safety guidelines.

  • Maintain and regularly update the Employee Handbook, ensuring company policies evolve alongside business needs and culture.

  • Formalize the performance management process, driving the schedule for annual or bi-annual reviews, goal-setting, and career development tracking.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for employee relations, providing a trusted, confidential space to resolve interpersonal conflicts or performance issues.

  • Support managing benefits administration, including annual open enrollment, healthcare plans, retirement options (401k), and wellness perks.

  • Own the daily office rhythm: supplies, mail/packages, guest experience, meeting room readiness, and general office organization.

  • Coordinate vendors and service providers (cleaning, repairs, internet/IT support, building management, etc).

  • Manage office inventory and purchasing; keep the office environment seamless.

  • Develop and maintain office guidelines and make it easy for people to follow them (signage, docs, quick training).

  • Manage and coordinate all events. These include:

    • Internal events for the team,

    • External Interplay hosted events, and

    • All events held at the office.

  • Event management tasks include:

    • Event coordination with internal and external parties,

    • Catering,

    • Scheduling,

    • RSVPs, and

    • Day of execution including set-up and breakdown.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in recruiting, sales, or other high-performance, relationship-driven environments strongly preferred.

  • The ability to proactively identify, engage, influence, and close high-quality candidates.

  • A track record of successfully managing a pipeline and driving processes from the initial outreach through close.

  • Outstanding organizational skills.

  • A great attitude and willingness to get your hands dirty.

  • Relevant work experience, preferable from other tech companies. Candidates from other backgrounds with transferable skills and a quick learning aptitude are welcome to apply.

  • Have the ability to work well in an unstructured environment by creating systems.
