Why Numeric?
Every business relies on accounting.
Yet most software in the space was built in the early 2000s — clunky, slow, and far behind the curve on AI. Today, accountants are facing a growing, unsolved data problem as a consequence of complexity, data, and system fragmentation — and they lack the tools to solve it. The problems are real, hard, and increasingly urgent. But they’re solvable.
Enter Numeric — the modern platform for accounting and finance
. We're building the platform that realizes the dream of live, rich, trustworthy data and insights for companies to drive decision-making & execution.
We tackle foundational challenges required to automate ingest, transformation, matching, projection, and reporting for an end-to-end graph of financial data. Weaving together data, automation, workflows, and AI-first experiences, we’re empowering accounting teams to own the continuous window into companies' finances and activity.
We have strong product market fit and a growing base of customers who love our product — including Anthropic, Brex, OpenAI, Plaid, Wealthfront, and many more. We’re backed by top-tier investors including IVP, Menlo Ventures, Founders Fund, and 8VC, along with founders and executives from Ramp, Segment, and other category-defining companies.

About The Role

Every candidate's first real impression of Numeric - and every day thereafter upon joining - run through this role. As we scale hiring across engineering, sales, and solutions, the quality of that experience becomes a direct input into our offer-acceptance rate and our brand in a tight talent market. At the same time, our NY office is where culture gets made or lost day to day and right now we have no dedicated owner shaping that, in lockstep with our SF People Ops team. This person will own two of the highest-leverage surfaces at Numeric: how we bring people in, and how it feels to be here once they've joined. Getting this right now means both scale together intentionally, instead of it getting figured out as we grow (and it’s happening fast!).
You'll spend most of your time driving our recruiting engine - making everything we do possible - and the rest keeping our NYC office running and our culture strong, in partnership with our SF-based People Ops team.

What You'll Do

  • Talent Operations (~70%)

    • Own interview scheduling and logistics across multiple roles/interviewers, including complex, multi-stage, in-person loops

    • Be the operating system of the talent team by managing candidate communication and experience end-to-end (confirmations, reminders, feedback loops)

    • Lead reporting, pipeline reports, and process troubleshooting for the talent team

    • Help shape, define, and refine recruiting workflows as the team scales

    • Support offer logistics, reference checks, and new-hire paperwork

    • Maintain ATS hygiene in Ashby; keep candidate records, stages, and notes accurate and current

  • Workplace & Culture (~30%)

    • Own day-to-day NYC office operations: stocking, supplies, vendor coordination, basic facilities issues

    • Plan and execute in-office events, team lunches, and culture moments - the fun stuff!

    • Act as the on-the-ground partner to the SF-based People Ops/Office Manager - flagging issues, aligning on policies, keeping NYC in sync with company-wide people ops

    • Help shape and protect team culture as headcount grows (onboarding touches, recognition, traditions)

    • Serve as a go-to point of contact for NYC-based employees on office/logistics questions

What You'll Bring

  • 1–3 years in recruiting coordination, people ops, HR admin, and/or office management from full time or internship experience

  • Strong organizational skills and comfort context-switching between detail-heavy scheduling and people-facing culture work

  • ATS experience a plus (Ashby specifically, or similar i.e. Greenhouse, Lever)

  • Experience displaying discretion with sensitive candidate/employee information

  • NYC-based, in-office 5 days/week

Nice to Haves (Not Required):

  • Hands-on ATS experience, whether Ashby specifically or a comparable system like Greenhouse or Lever

  • Experience at a startup where roles are fluid and undefined, and you built the process yourself

  • Interest in growing into a broader People Ops or Talent role over time

How We Work
This role is in-person in New York.

We believe the best company is the one with the best ICs and we’ve built a culture to maximize great work. We believe great work comse from a desire to win, a deep care for the craft, and a pragmatism in shipping for overall impact. As talent team members we ground our work in our understanding of the business, the domain, and the goals for our organization.
We strongly believe we will only be successful if everyone on the team is anchored in our following set of core principles:

  • Own the Outcome: We own our results. We typically hire builders and give them large mandates with high-trust. Engineers are responsible not just for code, but for ensuring the product is solving the end problems of the users.

  • Brick by Brick: To win, our team needs to show up and execute in each domain every day.

  • Love the Game: We focus on the craft and a deep sense of giving a f*ck. We’re building a company full of people who are equally engaged and motivated.

  • Earn the right: Our ability to rethink how things are done depends on the trust and reputation we build by shipping quality products and improving the lives of our users.

  • SALY: We refuse to accept “Same As Last Year.” We bring fresh eyes to a stagnated and underserved domain. We’re driven by a first-principles approach to building better solutions.
