Objective

Support client in creating authoritative, technically accurate thought leadership that positions the firm's partners as trusted advisors across accounting, tax, advisory, private wealth, entertainment, sports, international business, and other professional services disciplines.

The ideal writer combines strong research and interviewing skills with experience writing for professional services firms and can collaborate directly with partners to produce insightful, publication-ready content that reflects the firm's expertise while remaining engaging and accessible to business audiences.

Profile Overview

We are seeking an experienced B2B thought leadership writer with demonstrated experience writing for accounting firms, CPA firms, advisory organizations, financial services companies, or other professional services businesses.

Rather than being a specialist in one narrow practice area, the ideal candidate is a strong professional services generalist who can quickly become fluent across multiple industries and service lines by interviewing subject matter experts and conducting independent research.

This role requires balancing technical credibility with readability. The writer should be comfortable writing across a variety of topics while maintaining a consistent executive voice and adapting to different partner perspectives.

Engagement
  • Commitment: Approximately 20 hours per month
  • Estimated workload: Approximately 3–4 articles per month
  • Typical article length: 1,000–1,500 words (rarely exceeding 1,500 words)
Responsibilities
  • Interview partners and subject matter experts to develop original thought leadership.
  • Write technically accurate articles covering accounting, tax, advisory, business management, and related topics.
  • Adapt quickly between multiple practice areas and industries.
  • Translate technical accounting and advisory concepts into concise, engaging content for executives and business leaders.
  • Maintain the firm's professional brand voice across all content.
  • Produce clean first drafts that require minimal revisions from internal marketing and partners.
  • Produce content that sounds like it was written by an experienced advisor—not a textbook or generic AI-generated article.
  • Write in a concise, conversational executive style that is easy to read in approximately five minutes.
  • Balance technical expertise with accessibility through strong structure, shorter paragraphs, bullets where appropriate, and actionable insights.
  • Capture the unique voice of the client’s partners while requiring minimal editing from the internal marketing team.
  • Help differentiate the client by clearly communicating why clients should choose the firm, not simply explaining accounting concepts.
Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience writing thought leadership for professional services organizations.
  • Experience interviewing senior subject matter experts and translating technical knowledge into executive-level content.
  • Strong research and analytical writing skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex accounting, tax, or advisory concepts without sacrificing technical accuracy.
  • Experience adapting to multiple industries and business audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and editorial accuracy.
Strongly Preferred
  • Experience writing for CPA firms, accounting firms, or advisory organizations.
  • Ghostwriting for partners, executives, attorneys, or professional services leaders.
  • Experience covering accounting, audit, tax, finance, business advisory, or regulatory topics.
  • Background in business, finance, accounting, economics, or journalism.
  • Professional accounting credentials (CPA, EA, ACA, ACCA, CTA) are welcomed but not required.
Preferred Subject Matter Experience

Experience in several of the following areas is preferred:

  • Accounting and Advisory Services
  • Corporate Tax
  • Business Management
  • Financial Services
  • Private Wealth
  • Entertainment Business Management
  • Sports Business Management
  • Family Office Services
  • International Business
  • Cross-Border Advisory

The ideal candidate does not need deep expertise in every area but should demonstrate the ability to quickly learn new industries and collaborate with subject matter experts across the firm's practice groups.
