When you join our Tax Advisory practice, you will be part of a team working hand in hand with our clients to help them navigate the dynamic challenges associated with rapidly evolving tax policy. You will tackle a variety of complex projects related to tax advisory, business transactions, and strategy.  

 

The successful candidate will help clients evaluate, implement, and optimize tax technology solutions while advising on complex sales and use tax matters. This individual should be comfortable working in a rapidly evolving technology landscape, including AI-enabled solutions and emerging tax technologies, and be excited to help shape the future of Riveron's Tax Technology practice.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting or Taxation

  • 5+ years of experience in indirect tax, tax technology, or sales tax automation consulting

  • You have experience implementing or supporting one or more enterprise tax technology platforms such as Avalara, Vertex, or Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE

  • You have experience with ERP integrations, including NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Workday, or similar platforms

  • You are familiar with emerging tax technology platforms (e.g., Anrok, Numeral, Stripe Tax, etc.) is a plus

  • You have experience evaluating or leveraging AI tools to improve tax processes, automation, analytics, or client service

  • You have a strong understanding of U.S. sales and use tax concepts, including nexus, taxability, exemption management, compliance, and audit support

  • You are able to lead and supervise others, provide exceptional client service, exhibit a sense of urgency, and commitment to quality and the timely completion of projects

  • You are able to manage multiple engagements in a team environment

  • You have a passion for developing client relationships and an appetite for building new skills

  • You thrive in an ever-changing, dynamic work environment and readily identify problems and instinctively look for solutions

  • You enjoy participating in internal and external company initiatives such as community service, training, recruiting, and firm events

  • You have the ability and desire to travel as required based on client location

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide indirect tax planning and consulting services to multi-state and multi-national clients

  • Research and draft technical memorandum discussing potential sales and use tax consequences of business transactions

  • Research and provide state tax nexus determinations, taxability analyses, and quantification of potential sales and use/indirect tax exposures

  • Address clients’ sales and use tax concerns, including voluntary disclosure agreements, reverse audits, audit defense, other indirect tax controversy

  • Assist with clients’ sales and use tax accounting

  • Assist with managing client engagement setup, staffing, and billing

  • Lead and support implementations of sales and use tax automation solutions

  • Assist clients with the evaluation, selection, configuration, testing, and optimization of tax technology platforms

  • Collaborate with clients to improve indirect tax processes through automation, data analytics, AI, and emerging technologies

  • Assist clients with sales tax process design, ERP integrations, exemption certificate management, and ongoing compliance improvements

  • Evaluate emerging tax technologies and AI-enabled solutions and identify opportunities to enhance client service offerings and internal efficiencies

  • Develop implementation methodologies, best practices, and reusable technology solutions for the SALT practice

  • Collaborate with tax professionals across service lines—including provision, direct tax, international tax, and indirect tax—to help build Riveron's broader Tax Technology capabilities

  • Partner with firm leadership to evaluate and expand technology-enabled service offerings across the tax practice

  • Support business development activities, client presentations, proposals, and thought leadership related to tax technology
