About TaxGPT
TaxGPT is revolutionizing the tax and accounting space with AI-driven solutions tailored for accountants, tax professionals, and SMBs. We are building an AI co-pilot to transform tax workflows, drive efficiency, and simplify compliance. Recently named one of Business Insider's 30 Early-Stage Startups Most Likely to Become Tech's Next Unicorns, we would love for you to join our growing team.

What You’ll Do
This is an AI-first role where your tax planning and strategy expertise becomes the product. You will build the scenarios, answer keys, and strategic frameworks that teach our models how an expert reasons through complex planning, from entity structuring and M&A to estate and wealth transfer, and pressure-test their output to keep it accurate and defensible.
You will sit on our product team and partner closely with engineering, with significant ownership over the planning content that powers the product.

What We Are Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in tax planning and strategy, including complex advisory scenarios.
  • Proven track record advising on transactions, entity selection and restructuring, business succession, M&A structuring, and estate and wealth transfer.
  • Deep knowledge across corporate and personal tax planning, partnership and S-corporation taxation, and pass-through structuring.
  • Strong background conducting technical tax research to resolve complex planning issues across multiple areas.
  • Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated tax content, identifying errors, omissions, and edge cases, and apply your planning expertise to validate and improve it.
  • Experience serving high-net-worth individuals or closely held businesses.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation.
  • CPA, CFP, EA, or JD preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in using tax and accounting software, along with collaboration tools like Slack, Google Workspace, and Fathom.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in SaaS, fintech, or startup environments
  • Combined Big 4, national firm, or law firm and technology industry experience
  • Prior experience developing tax technology solutions, training materials, or educational content
  • Experience serving high-net-worth individuals or closely held businesses

How We Define Success in This Role

A strong Tax Planning and Strategy SME in this role:
  • Produces validated, authority-backed planning scenarios, answer keys, and decision frameworks across entity structuring, M&A and succession, and estate and wealth transfer that pass review with minimal rework.
  • Reliably catches errors, omissions, and missed planning opportunities in AI-generated output before it ships, and can explain the correct treatment with authority.
  • Builds scenarios and answer keys that become a primary source in our planning training and evaluation sets, improving model accuracy on the tasks they own.
  • Keeps our datasets current as federal and state law changes, and translates sophisticated planning concepts clearly for product and engineering partners.

Why Join Us
This is your chance to apply your expertise beyond client work, impacting how thousands of professionals use AI to navigate sophisticated tax planning.

The base pay range for this role is $110,000 to $130,000 per year.
