Firm Overview

Verition Fund Management LLC (“Verition”) is a multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund founded in 2008.  Verition focuses on global investment strategies including Global Credit, Global Convertible, Volatility & Capital Structure Arbitrage, Event-Driven Investing, Equity Long/Short & Capital Markets Trading, and Global Quantitative Trading.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Tech Lead to join our Treasury Engineering team. This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for designing, building, and evolving the systems that support the firm's financing, funding, and treasury operations across a global, multi-asset portfolio. As a Tech Lead, you will partner closely with Portfolio Finance, Repo Trading, Quantitative Research, and Engineering teams to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions that sit at the core of our investment platform. While this role provides technical leadership, it is first and foremost an engineering position. We are looking for someone who enjoys architecting systems, mentoring engineers, and writing production-quality code.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design and development of systems that calculate and manage margin requirements, financing interest, funding costs, and treasury workflows across multiple asset classes.
  • Architect and build scalable, low-latency applications supporting near real-time trade processing, portfolio financing, and optimization.
  • Serve as the technical lead for Treasury Engineering, driving architecture decisions, engineering standards, and long-term platform strategy.
  • Partner with Portfolio Finance, Repo Trading, Quantitative Researchers, and Software Engineers to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and day-to-day technical guidance while fostering engineering best practices.
  • Improve the performance, resiliency, scalability, and observability of existing services and infrastructure.
  • Identify opportunities to automate treasury workflows, eliminate operational bottlenecks, and improve the overall developer and user experience.
  • Take ownership of production systems, ensuring operational stability, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate new technologies and architectural approaches that support the firm's long-term technology roadmap.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of portfolio financing, repo markets, treasury operations, securities lending, margin management, trading workflows, or post-trade processing is a strong plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including experience leading the design and delivery of complex production systems.
  • Demonstrated experience acting as a technical lead while remaining hands-on with software development.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or another object-oriented language.
  • Deep understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, concurrency, and scalable application design.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and SQL, including PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar technologies.
  • Experience building cloud-native applications using AWS or comparable cloud platforms.
  • Experience developing highly available, fault-tolerant production systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $200,000 (USD). In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a discretionary performance bonus and a comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as geographic location, work experience, qualifications, and skill level.
