You'll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and collaborate with other passionate professionals who share your drive and commitment to making a difference through technology.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are hiring a Technical Operations Manager to scale the team and make it run effectively. This is a hands-on role spanning technology related hiring, project delivery, team processes, and cross-team coordination. You will pair closely with product managers, designers, engineers, OTI leadership, and partners across city government to keep the team focused, unblocked, and shipping.
You will own the operational backbone of the team: how we hire, how we plan, how we track delivery, how we onboard, how we report up, and how we make decisions. You will also help lead modern operating practices for the team: how we run meetings, how we use modern tools, how we document what we learn, and how we keep a small, high-output team scaling effectively.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Coordinate delivery across the team's projects, tracking status, surfacing risks early, and keeping work on schedule from concept through public launch.
- Build and maintain operating processes that scale, including planning cycles, sprint rituals, decision frameworks, status reporting, and post-launch retros.
- Unblock the team; identify what slows down work, escalate where needed, and resolve the recurring blockers yourself before they become patterns.
- Coordinate across OTI's platforms, security, legal, comms, and contracts teams to keep dependencies moving and the team's work aligned to the city's standards and timelines.
- Onboard new hires, making sure people are ramped, supported, and contributing to their first few weeks.
- Write and maintain the team's operating documentation: handbooks, runbooks, onboarding guides, and the principles that codify how we work.
- Report up to OTI leadership and external stakeholders on team health, project status, and operational metrics, with honesty about what is and is not working.
- Make the operation better over time. Run retros, measure what matters, and improve the team's working systems quarter over quarter.
Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned
HOURS/SHIFT
Day - Due to the necessary duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.
