Company Description

Remote in our day-to-day work. On-site when it matters.
We work remote by default – focused, efficient, and with full ownership. For larger features, architectural decisions, and real brainstorming sessions, we come together in Berlin – fast, hands-on, and without unnecessary meeting overhead.

We use AI to accelerate – not to replace thinking.
We design the system, steer the output, and take responsibility for what we ship.
Fast where it makes sense. Careful where it matters.

Not because you need to be a developer.

But because you need to understand what the developers are building.

Job Description

Your Mission

We're looking for a Technical Product Owner (f/m/d) who enjoys being right in the middle of Product, Business and Engineering.

You'll be part of the engineering team and share responsibility for the applications we build. You'll turn business requirements into clear, technically sound and testable work. You'll coordinate what needs to happen, challenge things when they don't make sense and make sure that "done" actually means done.

You will:

  • Bridge Business & Engineering: Translate business requirements into clear technical requirements, user stories, tickets and acceptance criteria that developers can actually work with.

  • Understand the System: Build a solid understanding of how UI, frontend, backend, APIs and databases interact across our full-stack applications.

  • Test & Investigate: Perform acceptance and smoke testing, work with APIs and validate data to systematically investigate whether something works as intended.

  • Drive Delivery: Organise and orchestrate work within the team, keep dependencies and open questions moving, and take features from idea to production.

  • Own Quality: Help decide whether a feature is ready to go live and develop a strong sense for quality, performance, monitoring and potential risks.

Qualifications

Your Skills

Core Competencies:

  • Technical Product Thinking: You can break down complex business requirements into clear, structured and testable work and know how to define meaningful acceptance criteria.

  • Hands-on Technical Know-how: You have practical experience with APIs, testing and data validation and understand how frontend, backend and databases work together.

  • Software Development Basics: You understand the fundamentals of Git and modern development workflows, including branches, commits, pull requests and merges.

  • Structured & Precise: You work carefully, pay attention to detail and create tickets and documentation that are clear, concise and easy to understand.

  • Curious & Collaborative: You ask questions, absorb new technical concepts quickly and communicate openly and directly with developers and business stakeholders at eye level.

Bonus Skills (The Power-Ups):

  • Experience with tools such as Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, Jira or comparable platforms.

  • Background in QA, software testing, technical business analysis or software development.

  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus or similar.

  • Experience working with cloud environments such as AWS.

  • Experience working in an agile software development environment.

Additional Information

Why you’ll love working with us

  • Ownership over tickets: You’re trusted with real responsibility, not just tasks. No unnecessary bureaucracy, no micromanagement – we rely on you to take things forward.

  • Build > Talk: We test what works – not what sounds good. Fail fast, learn faster.

  • High standards, low ego: We take our work seriously, but not ourselves. Direct feedback, honest collaboration, no drama.

  • Stay sharp: Hackathons, conferences, community – we invest in your growth and keep you at the cutting edge.

  • And yes – the fundamentals are covered too: 30 days of vacation + Dec 24 & 31 off, Smart Fridays (4 days week possible), mobility (Germany ticket & JobRad), sports & health offerings, mental health support, corporate benefits, RTL+ access, and more.

Your CV is just the starting point.

What matters more to us than your resume: a portfolio, a side project, a demo repo – anything that shows you don’t just talk about code, you ship it. Production-ready. Thought through. Done.

smartclip is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, ethnicity, nationality, age, gender, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or any other diverse characteristics.
