About the role

Tidal is seeking a contract Technical Recruiter to rapidly source, screen, and coordinate interviews for high-caliber engineering talent—starting with a Lead Data Engineer. The ideal contractor blends hands-on technical recruiting skills with familiarity of finance/fintech hiring, understands the pace and rigor of growth environments, and can operate autonomously while keeping stakeholders tightly informed.

What you'll do

  • Own the full top-of-funnel: build targeted pipelines for the Lead Data Engineer role; craft outreach, calibrate profiles, and maintain an active slate of qualified candidates.
  • Run a crisp screening process: design/refine knockout questions, conduct structured phone screens, and score candidates against role rubrics; keep quality bars high while moving fast.
  • Partner with hiring teams: synchronize on intake, define interview slates, prepare interviewers, and manage scheduling and feedback loops; ensure strong candidate experience.
  • Optimize tools & workflows: use our ATS (Rippling) for requisitions, posting, tracking, candidate comms, and reporting; maintain accurate, auditable records.
  • Market research & calibration: advise on talent pools, comp signals for contractors/FTEs, and sourcing channels for niche skills (e.g., AWS/Snowflake/dbt/Airflow, market data/Bloomberg, custodial/fund admin).
  • Reporting & cadence: deliver weekly pipeline metrics (sourced, screened, submitted, scheduled, offers) and risks/blockers with clear action plans.
  • Brand & compliance: represent Tidal’s brand professionally, follow structured, consistent evaluation practices, and adhere to equal opportunity hiring standards.

Qualifications

  • 4–7+ years of technical recruiting experience, with a strong track record filling data and software engineering roles (including senior/lead positions).
  • Deep understanding of modern engineering stacks, including:
    • Data: Python, SQL, Snowflake/Redshift/BigQuery, dbt, Airflow/Prefect, AWS data services.
    • Development: REST APIs, microservices, React (or similar), CI/CD pipelines, Git/GitHub.
  • Strong process ownership — from structured screening and interviewer enablement to thorough ATS documentation (Rippling or similar).
  • Excellent communication skills, high judgment, and a bias for action.

Preferred:

  • Experience recruiting in asset management, exchanges, broker-dealers, fintech, or financial data environments.
  • Familiarity with market data (Bloomberg APIs), fund administration, or regulated industries.
  • Established network in ETFs, capital markets, or financial data engineering.

Success Metrics (First 8–10 Weeks)

  • Submit qualified candidates within 10 business days of kickoff; maintain steady weekly pipeline.
  • Time-to-first-interview ≤ 7 days from recruiter screen.
  • Timely ATS updates; interviews scheduled within 48 hours of panel availability.
  • Data-backed offer recommendations (scorecards, references, work samples).
  • Strong candidate experience and clear weekly reporting.

Engagement Terms

  • Contract: 2–3 months, hourly.
  • Expected availability: 25–35 hours/week (flex for spikes around interviews/offers).
  • Rate: Competitive; aligned with experience and market.
