Who We Are:

Tenex is where builders, operators, and problem-solvers come together to help the world’s most ambitious companies tackle their toughest challenges. We work at the intersection of strategy and engineering — embedding dedicated teams directly into organizations to turn complex, high-stakes problems into real, measurable outcomes. We don’t do slide decks and hand-offs; we sit in the trenches alongside our clients and build.

We operate with the speed of a startup and the rigor of the best firms in the world. Our culture is built on intellectual curiosity, radical ownership, and a belief that exceptional work comes from diverse teams who are empowered to challenge assumptions, move fast, and hold each other to a higher standard. If you want to work on projects that actually matter, alongside people who make you better — Tenex is the place to do it.

The Role:

We’re hiring a Technical Recruiter to help build the foundation of our talent function as we scale.

This is not a traditional recruiting role. You’ll own full-cycle hiring across both technical and client-facing roles—from Forward Deployed Engineers, AI Strategists, and Engagement Managers—while also helping shape how recruiting works at Tenex.

You’ll report directly to the Head of People and play a critical role in scaling the team from ~20 to 100+. Every hire matters here. You’ll be responsible not just for filling roles, but for building the systems, pipelines, and candidate experience that define our company.

If you’re energized by high standards, fast execution, and building from scratch—this is for you.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own full-cycle recruiting across technical and client-facing roles

  • Source high-caliber candidates through creative, non-traditional channels

  • Partner closely with hiring managers and leadership to define role profiles and hiring strategies

  • Conduct thoughtful screenings that assess:

    • Technical depth

    • Client-facing ability

    • Builder mindset and cultural alignment

  • Drive an exceptional candidate experience from first touch to offer

  • Close candidates quickly in a competitive NYC market

  • Optimize and manage our ATS (Ashby) to support scale

  • Build and refine recruiting processes that balance speed and quality

  • Develop structured sourcing strategies for hard-to-fill and niche roles

  • Track and report on key metrics (pipeline health, time-to-fill, conversion rates)

  • Contribute to employer brand—positioning Tenex as the place where top builders want to work

  • Stay ahead of market trends in AI and NYC tech talent

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • 2–4 years of full-cycle recruiting experience (startup or high-growth environment preferred)

  • Proven ability to source and close technical talent

  • Experience hiring for client-facing or hybrid roles

  • Strong sourcing skills

  • Experience working in or alongside fast-paced, ambiguous environments

  • Strong judgment in evaluating both technical capability and cultural fit

  • Excellent communication—you can influence stakeholders and sell a vision to candidates

  • High ownership mindset—you don’t wait for process, you build it

We’ve Got You Covered for Full-Time Employees:

  • Comprehensive medical coverage (PPO and HSA options), dental, and vision

  • HSA, Healthcare FSA, and Commuter Benefits

  • 100% employer-paid life insurance + AD&D

  • 100% employer-paid long-term disability insurance

  • Responsible PTO — take what you need

What we offer:

This is a contract to hire role with possible conversion before or at 3mo. Starting hourly rate is $45 -$55 an hour and the salary for this role is $100,000 - $115,000. Recruiters earn a performance-based discretionary bonus quarterly. When determining compensation, we consider job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Our workplace:

We prioritize in-person work and collaborate from our New York City office five days a week. We believe our best ideas come from working closely together. Being in the same space enables faster collaboration, real-time problem solving, and stronger relationships that elevate how we build and execute as a team.
