Job Title: Technical Release Coordinator

Location: Remote

Position Summary

The Technical Release Coordinator manages and coordinates technology releases across multiple teams and applications. This role owns release schedules, readiness activities, deployment communications, change-management documentation, and post-release reviews.

The Technical Release Coordinator partners with development teams, Scrum teams, infrastructure resources, project leaders, and business stakeholders to ensure releases are properly planned, tested, approved, deployed, and validated. The successful candidate will be highly organized, technically knowledgeable, and comfortable directing off-hours deployment activities while managing risks, dependencies, and competing priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate regularly scheduled releases, out-of-cycle deployments, and emergency fixes across multiple teams.
  • Facilitate release-planning meetings to determine scope, sequencing, timelines, dependencies, and deployment requirements.
  • Develop and document release recommendations, including:
    • Release scope and schedule
    • Deliverables and component listings
    • Testing and validation requirements
    • Implementation steps
    • Risk-mitigation and rollback plans
  • Establish release-readiness criteria and track projects through the change-ticket lifecycle.
  • Ensure change tickets are complete and include required testing documentation, implementation instructions, approvals, and rollback plans.
  • Create and maintain the consolidated release calendar, configuration plan, deployment schedule, and stakeholder communications.
  • Prepare for and participate in Change Advisory Board meetings, deployment-planning sessions, and implementation-readiness reviews.
  • Identify scheduling conflicts, missing requirements, technical dependencies, and risks that could affect release outcomes.
  • Direct off-hours release activities, including deployment coordination, status reporting, issue escalation, and resolution.
  • Coordinate mock deployments, pre-production checklists, production implementation, and post-production verification.
  • Compile and review deployment and validation instructions in partnership with development and technical teams.
  • Package and stage production-ready release artifacts.
  • Coordinate the provisioning and readiness of infrastructure resources and environments.
  • Establish and enforce controls for build management, release management, and production change control.
  • Provide input on code-branching and code-merge strategies to project delivery teams and IT stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with technical resources to improve and automate build and deployment processes.
  • Communicate release status, business impact, expected duration, issues, and outcomes before, during, and after deployments.
  • Lead release-review meetings, capture lessons learned, and incorporate improvements into future releases.
  • Maintain release templates, process documentation, procedures, and best practices.
  • Promote continuous improvement across change, build, configuration, and release-management processes.

 Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • More than five years of technology experience, including one to four years of relevant experience coordinating projects or software releases across multiple teams.
  • Experience managing releases of varying size, scope, complexity, and business impact.
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience working with change management processes and production deployments.
  • Hands-on software development experience using object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Experience with code merges, branching strategies, build processes, and deployment activities.
  • General understanding of Agile development practices.
  • General understanding of ITIL practices.
  • Ability to participate in scheduled off-hours, weekend, or emergency release activities.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating releases in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Familiarity with automated build and deployment processes, CI/CD pipelines, and release-management tools.
  • Experience supporting Change Advisory Board processes and IT governance controls.
  • Experience coordinating infrastructure or application-environment provisioning.
  • Knowledge of configuration management, source control, and production validation practices.

  • Ability to influence teams and drive activities to completion without direct authority.
  • Sound judgment when evaluating release readiness, risk, and production impact.
  • Ability to remain composed and make timely decisions during high-impact deployments or production issues.
  • Commitment to process improvement, operational stability, and high-quality release outcomes.

Salary Range: $89,800.00 - $125,500.00

  • Salary is commensurate to experience, location, etc.
