About the job:Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) handles BBVA's investment banking, global markets, global lending and transactional businesses for international and domestic corporate clients and institutional investors. BBVA CIB is a full-service provider of high value-added products that can deliver solutions for the most complex needs of its clients anywhere in the world.
Within the CIB US Regulation and Internal Control (RIC) unit of a large global foreign bank branch, this role is part of the testing function under the global Non-Financial Risk (NFR) team within BBVA. He or she will assist in executing the testing program for the US Bank Branch and Broker Dealer within CIB, according to corporate guidelines and methodology. He or she will also help prepare the annual testing plan, perform reviews and assist with other risk management processes such as risk assessments, issue management, and/or reporting, among others.
Responsibilities:
Assist the US Head of Testing in conducting a branch-wide risk analysis twice a year to identify areas of focus.
Assist the US Head of Testing in developing the annual Testing Plan and obtaining the appropriate Management approvals.
Coordinate and interact with a cross functional team of stakeholders across various seniority levels.
Conduct Testing reviews in accordance with the plan and the approved testing methodology.
Identify and test controls, identify issues, and execute Testing reviews with little or no supervision.
Provide timely status on his or her activities to the US Head of Testing.
He or she will be accountable for the reviews performed and assist the US Head of Testing with drafting Test reports.
Follow up on action plans resulting from Testing reviews, track committed deadlines and raise / escalate any delays.
Help to identify opportunities and propose continuous improvement ideas for the Testing function.
Assist in responding to both internal and external requests (e.g. Internal Audit, Regulatory requests).
Requisites for the position:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic experience.
At least 8–12 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry in one or more of the following areas: compliance testing or monitoring, internal audit, bank or financial-services regulatory examination/supervision, operational or non-financial risk, or a comparable independent assurance, risk, or control function.
At least 5 years of experience in a senior, lead, or similarly responsible capacity conducting or overseeing risk-based reviews, audits, examinations, testing, control assessments, or other assurance activities.
Knowledge of testing methodologies, frameworks, and industry practices.
Experience with preparation of quality workpapers and reports to Senior Management.
Understands regulatory expectations with respect to a testing team.
Strong analytical and oral/written communication skills.
Goal-oriented.
Ability to be a self-starter in a dynamic environment with limited supervision.
Spanish is a plus.

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $160,000 to $175,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
