H&H is seeking a Traffic Group Manager to support the continued growth of the firm’s roadway and transportation practice throughout the New York Metropolitan Area. This leadership role is responsible for providing technical oversight, staff resource management, and project delivery support across multiple offices and transportation market sectors.
The Traffic Group Manager will coordinate closely with Business Practice Leads and technical leadership to deliver high-quality traffic engineering, transportation planning, and mobility projects. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor engineering staff, and provide technical expertise on a wide range of traffic operations, safety, capacity, and transportation planning initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and staff resource management for traffic engineering projects across the New York Metropolitan Area
- Perform and oversee intersection and roadway capacity analyses using HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and SimTraffic software
- Lead the preparation of traffic impact studies, transportation planning studies, and operational analyses
- Direct the analysis and design of signalized and unsignalized intersections, roundabouts, highway interchanges, and roadway geometrics
- Oversee traffic signal design, timing analysis, signing and striping plans, and maintenance and protection of traffic strategies
- Lead traffic calming, bicycle and pedestrian safety studies, parking studies, and multimodal transportation initiatives
- Support the planning and design of intermodal mobility hubs and transit station improvements
- Conduct peer reviews of traffic impact studies, site plans, and transportation-related development applications
- Apply CEQR methodologies and transportation analysis requirements for New York City projects
- Support data analytics and emerging mobility initiatives, including micromobility studies
- Coordinate effectively with project managers, technical staff, clients, and agency stakeholders
- Mentor, train, and develop junior engineers and technical staff
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality for multiple concurrent assignments
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards, including the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), AASHTO guidelines, and agency-specific requirements
- Assist with business development, proposal preparation, and client relationship management efforts
Requirements
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required in New York
- PTOE and/or PTP certification preferred
- Minimum of ten years of experience in traffic engineering, traffic analysis, traffic signal design, signing and striping design, and transportation planning
- Familiarity with NYSDOT, NYCDOT, Nassau County, Suffolk County, Westchester County, and local municipal design standards
- Experience managing transportation engineering projects and multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency with MicroStation, Bentley InRoads, Civil 3D, and traffic analysis software including HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and SimTraffic
- Experience preparing professional engineering deliverables in accordance with client standards and agency requirements
- Strong knowledge of transportation planning, traffic operations, roadway safety, and multimodal transportation systems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with regional and local office leadership, technical directors, and marketing teams
- Active participation in professional organizations and industry associations preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CEQR transportation analysis requirements and environmental review processes
- Experience conducting bicycle, pedestrian, micromobility, and complete streets studies
- Familiarity with green infrastructure applications within transportation projects
- Experience supporting transportation projects for public agencies throughout the New York Metropolitan Area
- Additional state professional engineering registrations are a plus
Benefits
Salary range — $150,000-170,000 annually. Salary commensurate with level of experience.
