Job Summary & Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY: BankUnited is seeking a senior Product Management leader to drive product strategy, development, and risk governance across Treasury Solutions Payments products. This role combines disciplined product management with strong first-line risk ownership to ensure products are scalable, compliant, and operationally resilient. The individual will partner across functional partners to enable sustainable business growth while embedding risk and controls throughout the product lifecycle.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Leadership & Strategy:
  • Defines and executes data-driven product strategies aligned to client needs and firm objectives.
  • Develops and manages product roadmaps, prioritizing initiatives based on value, risk, and strategic alignment.
  • Incorporates regulatory, compliance, and risk considerations into strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Leverages market insights, client feedback, and performance metrics to continuously refine product direction.
  • Ensures solutions are scalable, efficient, and aligned with enterprise risk standards.
Product Development & Delivery:
  • Leads end-to-end product lifecycle management from concept through launch and ongoing enhancements.
  • Defines business cases, requirements, KPIs, and acceptance criteria for new initiatives.
  • Drives cross-functional collaboration to deliver integrated, high-quality solutions.
  • Promotes strong risk and control culture within product and partner teams.
  • Embeds risk and control requirements into product design, development, and release processes.
  • Oversee testing, issue resolution, and release readiness, ensuring strong execution discipline.
  • Provides transparent program updates, including risks and dependencies, to stakeholders.
  • Risk/Controls Integration, Governance & Regulatory Management:
  • Operates within the first line of defense, aligning product risk frameworks with Business Control
  • Management (BCM), including RCSA, issue management, control gap remediation, risk assessments, audit/regulatory responses and ensuring risk/controls requirements are addressed prior to product launch.
  • Establishes and monitors Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and escalates emerging risks proactively.
  • Ensures strong governance and oversight for regulatory change management, stay current on regulatory and industry developments and ensure regulatory requirements are translated into effective controls, product design/requirements and procedures.
  • Partners with Risk, Business Controls, Compliance, BSA/AML and Audit teams to maintain strong governance and oversight
Day to Day:
  • Collaborate with functional teams to provide subject matter expertise as needed.
  • Handles escalated problems, as needed from internal customers / business partners regarding services and procedures.
  • Actively manages relationships with existing vendors to define and drive exceptional product performance in production.
  • Ensures effective product risk management is practiced by the team and that key risk controls and monitoring are operating effectively.
  • Perform special projects, as assigned by manager.
  • Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
  • Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
  • Identifies and reports suspicious activity.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Equivalent professional experience considered
Experience
  • 7+ years in Product Management, Risk, Controls in Financial Services
  • Proven experience in end-to-end product lifecycle management
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate risk management into product strategy and delivery
Licenses and Certifications
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding and experience with payments products (i.e. ACH, Wires, FX, Instant Payments, Check Products), product strategy/development, governance, and commercialization
  • Knowledge of risk frameworks, regulatory requirements, and controls environments
  • Ability to balance business growth and risk mitigation
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making ability
  • Ability to operate in a cross-functional, highly collaborative environment
