Job Description:

The Vice President, Commerce Strategy partners with senior Commerce leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives that accelerate dentsu's Commerce business across North America.

This role works across Media, Creative, Commerce Operations, Content, Technology, Data, and Client Leadership teams to help develop integrated Commerce solutions for clients while supporting the growth and evolution of the Commerce practice.

The VP serves as a strategic consultant for internal teams and clients, helping connect business strategy with execution while supporting innovation, capability development, technology evaluation, and commercial growth.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Planning
  • Support the development of enterprise Commerce strategies and cross functional initiatives.
  • Conduct market analysis, competitive assessments, and strategic evaluations that inform leadership decisions.
  • Develop business cases, strategic recommendations, and executive presentations.
  • Coordinate strategic initiatives across multiple Commerce workstreams.
Client Strategy
  • Partner with client teams to develop integrated Commerce strategies that span media, creative, content, operations, and technology.
  • Support executive client workshops and strategic planning engagements.
  • Develop recommendations that connect Commerce investments to measurable business outcomes.
  • Help clients navigate evolving Commerce capabilities and market opportunities.
Innovation & Capability Development
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, AI capabilities, and strategic partners.
  • Support the development of new Commerce offerings and go to market solutions.
  • Partner with Product, Technology, Activation, and Measurement leaders to identify capability gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to the adoption of agentic AI capabilities across Commerce workflows.
Commercial Growth
  • Support strategic new business opportunities and Commerce pitches.
  • Develop strategic narratives, market positioning, and client recommendations.
  • Partner with Growth teams on priority pursuits.
  • Contribute to thought leadership and industry perspectives.
Cross Functional Leadership
  • Build strong relationships across Media, Creative, Commerce Operations, Measurement, Product, Technology, and Client Leadership organizations.
  • Coordinate strategic initiatives involving multiple disciplines and executive stakeholders.
  • Help establish best practices and scalable strategic frameworks across the Commerce practice.
QualificationsRequired
  • 10+ years of experience in strategy, consulting, commerce, retail media, digital marketing, or related disciplines.
  • Experience developing strategic recommendations for senior business leaders.
  • Strong understanding of commerce, ecommerce, retail media, customer experience, and marketing.
  • Experience working across multiple business functions and stakeholder groups.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence executive stakeholders and manage complex initiatives.
Preferred
  • Experience in consulting, agency, commerce technology, or enterprise strategy.
  • Familiarity with AI, automation, and emerging commerce technologies.
  • Experience supporting large enterprise clients.
  • Experience contributing to business development and strategic growth initiatives.

The annual salary range for this position is $164,450 - $220,000. Placement within the salary range is based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and other factors permitted by law.

Employees who live within a commutable distance of one of our hub offices, currently located in Chicago, metro Detroit, Los Angeles, and New York City, are required and expected to work from the office three days per week (two days per week for employees based in Los Angeles). Dentsu may designate other Hub offices at any time. Those who live outside a commutable range may be designated as remote, depending on the role and business needs. Regardless of your work location, we expect our employees to be flexible to meet the needs of our Company and clients, which may include attendance in an office.
