About this role

Data Product Owner, Vice President – XFT

Your team

BlackRock’s Cross-Functional Technology (XFT) team brings together people, process, data and technology to establish scalable, artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled platforms and the technology foundation supporting the firm’s long-term growth strategy. XFT enables a unified, AI-first enterprise focused on simplifying decision-making and increasing operational leverage.

Your role and impact

As a Data Product Owner, you will own a portfolio of data products supporting BlackRock’s corporate functions, guiding products from discovery and definition through delivery, adoption and ongoing evolution. The role combines hands-on product ownership with enterprise data expertise, translating complex business needs into reusable, governed data products; shaping domain data models, semantic constructs and enterprise definitions; and driving execution across stakeholder and technology teams. You may direct the work of a small group of analysts and other contributors while remaining actively involved in product definition, analysis and delivery.

Your responsibilities

In every role at BlackRock, you'll be expected to apply sound judgement and critical thinking to solve complex problems, adapt as the business evolves, and combine the curiosity to explore new approaches and technologies with the rigor to challenge the results. The scope of this role also includes the following responsibilities:

  • Own assigned domain data products from discovery through roadmap, requirements, delivery, adoption, measurement and lifecycle management.
  • Represent products through Agile planning and delivery, driving decisions, dependencies, prioritization and execution through completion.
  • Lead product discovery and requirements analysis, evaluating business value, cost, dependencies and competing priorities to recommend appropriate sequencing and tradeoffs.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to establish clear product outcomes, data definitions, service expectations and measures of success.
  • Design and evolve domain data models, including core business concepts, relationships, reference and master data, and reusable data structures.
  • Partner closely with data engineering, platform, business intelligence (BI), reporting and architecture teams on pipelines, transformations, access patterns, entitlements, analytical consumption and distribution mechanisms.
  • Provide product direction and day-to-day leadership to small analyst teams.

Your experience

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in enterprise data, data products, product management, data architecture and modeling, data governance or stewardship, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience owning or leading data products across the product lifecycle, including discovery, roadmaps, backlogs, prioritization, planning, delivery, adoption and metrics.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise data concepts and modeling, including data definitions, quality, lineage, metadata, ownership, governance, semantic and domain modeling, master and reference data, normalized and dimensional models, and modeling standards.
  • Hands-on data modeling experience, including the ability to work effectively with business stakeholders, architects and engineers.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and drive outcomes in a complex, matrixed enterprise environment, with experience in corporate data domains such as finance, treasury, tax, human resources (HR), client and revenue, legal and compliance, regulatory reporting, procurement, or enterprise master and reference data.
  • Experience with enterprise business applications such as Oracle Financials, SAP, IBM Planning Analytics, Salesforce, Workday, Microsoft Dynamics or Coupa, along with familiarity with cloud data platforms, BI and analytics platforms, metadata and catalog solutions, and data-quality tooling.
  • Experience in asset management, financial services or a similar industry.
