Role Summary

EverCommerce is seeking a visionary, hands-on Vice President of Enterprise Application Technology to lead the strategy, architecture, roadmap, and execution of enterprise platforms supporting Finance and G&A functions. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Enterprise Technology & Security, this executive will serve as a core strategic partner bridging the gap between deep technical systems and business leadership.

The ideal candidate is an Enterprise Architect at heart with a startup mindset—someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and views AI not just as a tool, but as a force multiplier to enable business scale. You must possess the unique ability to translate highly complex technical architecture into clear, business-driven outcomes for non-technical executive stakeholders, including the CFO and business unit leaders. Additionally, this role requires deep, practical experience navigating rigorous SOX compliance frameworks within an enterprise application ecosystem.

A critical, immediate priority for this role is to increase operational velocity and drive a comprehensive transformation of our billing systems. The incoming leader will inherit a fragmented systems landscape and must rapidly execute a consolidation strategy that unifies disparate billing platforms into a single, scalable enterprise standard, eliminating operational drag and accelerating business agility.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Architecture & Strategic Leadership

  • Act as Principal Enterprise Architect: Formulate and maintain the north-star enterprise application architecture framework, ensuring seamless, scalable integrations across the core enterprise stack (ERP, Billing, Procurement, HRIS).
  • Accelerate Billing Consolidation: Drive the high-velocity migration and consolidation of fragmented, legacy billing systems onto the core enterprise billing platform across multiple business units, minimizing time-to-value and eliminating architectural debt.
  • Executive Communication & Partnership: Act as the primary technical translator for non-technical executive stakeholders (CFO, Finance/Accounting leadership, and Business Unit heads), presenting complex technical roadmaps as clear business cases focused on ROI, efficiency, and scale.
  • End-to-End Business Automation: Own the strategy, modernization, and ongoing optimization of critical core corporate workflows, driving true end-to-end automation across Order-to-Cash (O2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), Plan-to-Report (P2R), and Hire-to-Retire (H2R).
  • High-Velocity Execution: Transition the business systems organization from a steady-state maintenance mindset to an agile, transformation-oriented delivery machine capable of executing complex system rollouts efficiently.
  • Team & Vendor Management: Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing enterprise applications team. Lead technology vendor strategy, including robust evaluation, negotiation, and selection of tier-1 enterprise SaaS platforms.

AI Multiplier & Business Transformation

  • Startup Mindset Execution: Bring a high-velocity, agile approach to corporate systems; experiment rapidly, iterate quickly, and deploy scalable solutions without unnecessary corporate inertia.
  • AI as a Force Multiplier: Define and execute a practical, AI-enabled enterprise applications strategy. Identify and embed intelligent automation, agentic workflows, and LLM-driven capabilities directly into financial and G&A processes to drastically reduce cycle times (e.g., accelerating month-end close).
  • Modernization & Evaluation: Continually evaluate embedded AI features within existing SaaS platforms versus building custom orchestration layer tools (iPaaS, automated analytics) to maximize internal productivity.

Governance, SOX Compliance & Risk

  • Champion SOX Compliance: Ensure all enterprise architecture, system modifications, automated workflows, and integrations are designed from the ground up to adhere strictly to SOX controls, internal audits, and data privacy governance.
  • Controls & Access Management: Partner closely with Security, Internal Audit, and Legal to strengthen identity & access management (IAM), change management protocols, and segregation of duties (SoD) across all business platforms.
  • M&A Systems Integration: Lead the technical system evaluations, data migrations, and process harmonization required to integrate newly acquired business units into the core enterprise ecosystem.

Skills & Experience

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience leading enterprise applications, corporate IT, or business systems organizations.
  • 10+ years of experience focused specifically on Finance and G&A technology stacks within high-growth, public, or late-stage private environments.
  • Proven Track Record of Consolidation: Demonstrated success leading large-scale billing or ERP consolidation initiatives, specifically migrating multiple disparate, fragmented business entities onto a single core enterprise platform.
  • Proven Enterprise Architect Backbone: Strong background in technical system design, data lineage, master data management (MDM), and complex integration topologies (iPaaS).
  • Rigorous SOX Experience: Demonstrated success implementing, auditing, and maintaining robust system controls within a SOX-regulated public company environment.
  • Elite Communication Skills: A proven track record of successfully interfacing with, influencing, and presenting complex systems concepts to the CFO, Audit Committees, and senior business leaders.
  • Velocity-Driven Leadership: Proven ability to accelerate technology delivery timelines, streamline complex deployment roadmaps, and manage the change management friction associated with aggressive system transformations.
  • Deep Billing & Monetization Expertise: Strong technical understanding of complex enterprise billing architectures, subscription management, usage-based revenue models, and revenue recognition engines in a multi-entity environment (e.g., Zuora).
  • SaaS Ecosystem Expertise: Direct, hands-on strategy experience with enterprise SaaS platforms such as NetSuite, Zuora, Coupa, Workday, Avalara, or comparable systems.
  • AI & Automation Delivery: Practical experience leveraging AI, machine learning, or advanced automation platforms (e.g., Workato, MuleSoft, Alteryx) as business enablers to eliminate manual processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical/business field.

Preferred Attributes

  • A background that blends big-company compliance discipline with early-stage/startup velocity and resourcefulness.
  • Experience driving significant business process redesign (e.g., shrinking a multi-week financial close process down to a matter of days via automation).
