We enable organizations of all sizes to easily build, scale, and run modern applications by helping them modernize legacy workloads, embrace innovation, and unleash AI. Our industry-leading developer data platform, MongoDB Atlas, is the only globally distributed, multi-cloud database and is available in more than 115 regions across AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. Atlas allows customers to build and run applications anywhere—on premises, or across cloud providers. With offices worldwide and over 175,000 new developers signing up to use MongoDB every month, it’s no wonder that leading organizations, like Samsung and Toyota, trust MongoDB to build next-generation, AI-powered applications.

The Vice President of Finance Technology is a trusted business partner responsible for technical delivery to support the Finance Organization, drive operational excellence, innovate, and deliver business results at MongoDB. You have a deep knowledge of financial operations processes as well as finance technology and architecture. You will lead a global, growing team of approximately 18 resources composed of business systems analysts, engineers, administrators, and solution architects who look after the Finance technology stack as well as the Robotic Processing Automation solutions. The team is distributed across the United States and India.

You have seen what “good” looks like at scale in terms of both processes and technology. You are a creative thinker, collaborative, a problem solver, and you find ways to continuously improve. You challenge the status quo and do not accept the answer, “because it has always been this way”, while supporting executives in making challenging and complex decisions that enable MongoDB to achieve strategic objectives.

This role can be based out of our New York City, Palo Alto, or San Francisco offices or remotely in the United States region.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and gain buy-in for our finance technology strategy and associated roadmap that drives the Company to achieve its business objectives and evolves with the organization’s business strategy
  • Define and execute against a rolling twelve-month project roadmap, and provide visibility into a 24-month planning horizon
  • Manage stakeholders; Be an integral member of the Finance Leadership Team and act as the trusted technology advisor; Facilitate discussions with key stakeholders across functions and levels, advise on technology and process maturity, data sensitivity, potential tradeoffs, scope creep, and provide implementation options including crawl-walk-run phases
  • Uplevel planning and execution processes including cross-functional prioritization and software delivery practices to ensure rapid, quality delivery
  • Develop an organizational approach to balance the speed provided by a distributed technology support model with the efficiency of a centralized model
  • Continuously evaluate the technology stack to determine where to build, buy/customize, replace
  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing global talent, and ensure they have deep knowledge of our end-to-end financial operations practices. Eliminate any single points of knowledge
  • Remain connected to the broader finance technology community and incorporate best practices and new product offerings into MongoDB
  • Liaise with internal teams to ensure our control environment is efficient and effective
  • Scale finance technology to support a larger, more complex Finance function
  • Play a key role in driving effective change management and communication on technical delivery to non-technical audiences, explaining the “what”, the “how”, and the “why”
  • Manage technology operations to ensure system uptime, performance, and data quality
  • Partner with key vendors to ensure best-in-class system implementations, including appropriate levels of customization and integration
  • Pay down existing technical debt in finance platforms and prevent additional debt from accumulating without oversight and a plan to pay down in the future
  • Implement project metrics to hold teams accountable
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in an IT business systems, business operations, product management, or a consulting role responsible for driving finance service delivery
  • 8 years or more of people management, including at least 5 years on the second line of management
  • Extensive knowledge of best-in-breed ERP applications, including but not limited to Oracle, SAP, and the NetSuite ecosystem
  • Extensive knowledge of core finance processes, including Quote to Cash, Record to Report, Procure to Pay
  • Proven experience as part of an ERP replatforming program, preferably migrating from NetSuite
  • Deep understanding of the Agile software development methodology and best practices. You have rolled out Agile, you understand what makes a great product owner and scrum master
  • Ability to ‘think big’ with a strategic mindset to develop the medium-long term roadmap and strategy, while being able to adapt and be creative in solving problems to meet immediate operational needs
  • Able to communicate effectively with both C-suite, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to conceptualize and sell ideas internally and attain win-win outcomes
  • Proven track record of building effective relationships with Executives and senior leadership
  • Experience integrating data across a plethora of system platforms, ability to define systems ownership, and ability to advise on best practices for master data management
  • Track record of sustained successful partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously that have fluctuating requirements, and time-sensitive deadlines
Success Measures
  • In 3 months you will have a deep understanding of your team, the value proposition to the company, and a roadmap for the next 12 months
  • In 6 months you will have built-out key initial processes and cemented strong working relationships with your key partners across the business
  • In 12 months, having added key hires and implemented key operational processes for scale, you will have cemented the foundation to significantly grow the Finance Technology team over the next several years
