Vice president, Full-stack Engineer, AI Transformation Office (AI-Forward Software Engineer)

At BNY, our culture allows us to run our company better and enables employees’ growth and success. As a leading global financial services company at the heart of the global financial system, we influence nearly 20% of the world’s investible assets. Every day, our teams harness cutting-edge AI and breakthrough technologies to collaborate with clients, driving transformative solutions that redefine industries and uplift communities worldwide.

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice president, Full-stack Engineer to join our AI Transformation Office. This role is located in New York, NY.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Design, build and ship production-grade GenAI and agentic automation solutions end-to-end – from scoping and prototyping through to deployment – applying AI-native tooling across the full workflow, including design, testing and documentation.
  • Understand the business problem first, then use AI tooling to accelerate solution design rather than to replace the thinking behind it.
  • Partner with Product Owners, line-of-business stakeholders and architects to design, prototype and deliver AI-powered solutions spanning automation, workflow orchestration and client-facing tooling.
  • Build and contribute to AI-forward architecture standards, including prompt engineering patterns, agentic workflow design and LLM integration guidelines.
  • Participate in code reviews with an AI-first lens – assessing both the quality of the code and how effectively AI tooling was leveraged in the build.
  • Ensure solutions meet BNY’s standards for regulatory compliance, risk management and internal controls, including the responsible and secure use of AI.
  • Demonstrate teamwork. Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment aligned with our company culture and values.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including demonstrable and recent use of AI-native development tools as a core part of your daily workflow rather than an occasional one.
  • Daily working proficiency with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Windsurf, Cursor or GitHub Copilot. This is a baseline expectation for the role rather than a differentiator.
  • Strong hands-on development experience in Python and/or Java for backend service development.
  • Hands-on LLM integration experience using OpenAI, Anthropic or equivalent APIs.
  • Working knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP), REST APIs and microservices architecture.
  • Experience designing and delivering solutions on a major cloud platform – AWS, Azure or GCP.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering or a related field.
  • Preferred: experience with agentic frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen or similar.
  • Preferred: RAG pipeline design and vector database experience (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector).
  • Preferred: solid understanding of Agile methodologies and SDLC tooling, including Jira, Git and CI/CD pipelines.
