Business Overview

Our Clients & Strategy team covers Business Development, Investor Relations, External Relations, Sustainable Investment and Brand, Marketing & Communications, including Internal Communications.

It is responsible for all communications to investor prospects, existing investors and their asset consultants, as well as a broad range of other stakeholders, including governments and media.

The Role

  • The role will have a primary focus on the development of consultant relationships and fundraising across Global and US National consultant firms. Champion IFM’s business and represent IFM to consultants, clients, prospects, and industry leaders.
  • Work with the Head of North America Consultant Relations, the Head of Global Consultant Relations, and other members of the Global Consultant Relations team, on the development, communication and execution of the consultant relations strategy.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Global Client Solutions (GCS) North America regional teams and the Head of GCS North America, plus partner with investment teams to source new business opportunities and maintain existing consultant and client relationships.
  • Working closely with the GCS North Ameria regional teams, and GCS globally, to tier, prioritize and execute on consultant and client outreach.
  • Manage assigned consultant firm relationships, primarily in the Northeast and Southeast, maintaining consultant and client satisfaction. 
  • Prepare firm-specific business plans to socialize a thorough understanding of assigned consultants, including their business strategy, client roster, key stakeholders, and manager selection processes.
  • Proactively develop and manage relationships across research, OCIO, field consultants, and senior leadership to engage across the IFM platform.
  • Manage the research agenda at assigned consulting firms, leveraging research conviction to engage strategically with field consultants – in collaboration with GCS North America regional teams – and senior leaders, to create ongoing commercial opportunities.
  • Oversee, support, and manage meeting preparation and briefings, decks, roadshows, teach-ins, and diligence sessions across IFM’s product suite. Be responsible for hosting meetings and all pre- and post-meeting follow-ups.
  • Accountable for the accurate and prompt production of all relevant consultant and client materials to ensure quality control and appropriate risk management.
  • Report on consultant activities and results against targets. Synthesize consultant feedback, market trends, and competitive intelligence.
  • Support the development and execution of product-specific engagement plans.
  • Play a role in the delivery of GCS global and regional change initiatives.
  • Provide training, coaching, role-modelling, and skill building for GCS teams on consultant and client relationship management.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements across the North America business.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning 

  • Be a strong contributor to the delivery of the Global Consultant Relations strategy as part of the overall GCS strategy.
  • Contribute to and execute IFM Investors’ business plans to increase brand and product penetration, new business opportunities through consultants, and ultimately Funds Under Management.
  • Attend relevant industry conferences to increase IFM brand awareness and engage with existing and prospective investors
  • Demonstrate professional and proactive consultant service management, meeting and exceeding the needs of consultants and clients.
  • Ensure Salesforce is maintained accurately to enhance team effectiveness and permit stakeholder reporting.
  • Provide feedback on market issues involving consultants, clients, prospects, and other general industry trends.
  • Collaborate and build trust with the broader Global Consultant Relations, GCS North America, and other IFM teams, fostering teamwork through recognition and appreciation of contributions.
  • Complete projects assigned by the Global Head of GCS, Head of Global Consultant Relations, and Regional Heads of GCS

Business Performance 

  • Increase consultant engagement in North America to contribute to new business opportunities through existing and prospective clients.
  • Champion the “IFM Story” and ensure that consultants understand it and that a globally consistent message is being delivered to consultants, current and prospective investors.
  • Establish consultant account plans covering priority consultant firms and client segments, proactively and constantly monitoring and adjusting based on relevant insights.
  • Track and report pipeline opportunities against relevant metrics.
  • Be willing to travel regularly to consultant offices and industry events.

Policy and Process Management

  • Provide feedback and participate in the improvement of GCS’ process around consultant relationship management, business development, on-boarding, and consultant, client and prospect engagement.

Your Background and Experience

  • Ideally 10 years’ relevant experience in similar role preferably with a private market or multi-asset manager, or other investment firm that offers traditional and alternative products.
  • Strong academic credentials including an undergraduate degree.
  • Advanced degree and/or CFA or CAIA a plus. 
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 required for the role.
  • Proven track record of managing data and information on firm and products in support of capital raising through existing and new consultant and investor relationships.
  • Understanding of data request processes and key systems used to respond to consultant and investor requests.
  • High degree of technical acumen as well as a deep understanding across Infrastructure and/or Private Markets.
  • Strong conceptually and analytically, able to grasp commercial and strategic aspects of the business.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Exact compensation amount may vary and will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual’s experience, skills and qualifications. Total compensation for this role includes eligibility for a discretionary performance-based bonus.

$240,000 – $265,000
