Situation is a leading full-service marketing and advertising agency specializing in live experience-based brands, including some of Broadway’s biggest blockbusters and iconic live experiences like The Metropolitan Opera and the Empire State Building. We create groundbreaking campaigns that captivate audiences and drive cultural conversation.

What You’ll Do

We are seeking a highly skilled Video Editor / Motion Designer to produce high-quality video campaigns for live theatrical brands, including Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. Your primary focus will be editing and animating assets that drive ticket sales and brand awareness.

In this role, you will handle projects from initial asset hand-off to final delivery, adapting creative concepts across broadcast, digital, social, and out-of-home (OOH) platforms. You will collaborate closely with Creative Directors, Art Directors, and Copywriters to build out campaigns, solve visual problems, and ensure all video deliverables meet exact technical specifications. We are looking for a proactive problem-solver who takes ownership of their deliverables and is looking for a role with clear room for long-term growth.

Note: This position will begin as a contract-to-hire (trial period) to ensure a strong mutual fit before transitioning to full-time employment.

Our office is located in midtown Manhattan, operating on a hybrid schedule.

Sample Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Execute end-to-end post-production, including offline/online editing, motion graphics, sound design, basic color grading, and final finishing.
  • Create complex 2D animations, kinetic typography, and graphic treatments using static key art, photography, and brand guidelines.
  • Adapt and version core campaign videos across a wide variety of formats and aspect ratios (e.g., 16:9 for broadcast, 9:16 for TikTok/Reels, custom dimensions for massive Times Square OOH screens).
  • Handle basic audio mixing, including syncing sound, cutting music tracks to fit campaign pacing, and adding sound effects.
  • Maintain rigorous file organization, version control, and asset management within our server structure to ensure seamless collaboration with other team members.
  • Quality check (QC) all final deliverables to ensure they meet exact platform and vendor specifications prior to trafficking.

Requirements
  • 3–6 years of professional experience in video editing and motion design, preferably within an agency, entertainment, or media environment.
  • A strong reel/portfolio that demonstrates technical proficiency, an understanding of narrative pacing, and excellent typographic and compositing skills.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects; highly proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Strong technical understanding of video formats, aspect ratios, frame rates, codecs, and delivery specs for both broadcast and digital media.
  • Familiarity with the Broadway space or live event marketing is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues in post-production and independently solve design challenges.
  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple quick-turnaround projects simultaneously without sacrificing quality.
  • Receptive to creative feedback, with the ability to clearly articulate your own design choices and technical decisions.

Benefits

We offer a competitive base salary and a range of benefits and perks:

  • Salary range: $75,000–$90,000 per year, commensurate with experience
  • Health care plan (medical, dental, and vision)
  • Retirement plan with employer match
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Generous paid time off package that includes vacation, sick, “life happens” days, birthdays, summer Fridays and public holidays
  • Paid family leave
  • Cold brew coffee, snacks and fresh fruit
  • Wellness resources
  • Special access to New York City’s arts and entertainment scene

We have been honored for our commitment to our team with workplace awards from Crain’s, Best Companies Group, Cynopsis, Digiday, and Fortune.
