Our client is a Fortune 100 global financial services leader, renowned for its iconic consumer and commercial card business. They are deeply committed to creative excellence and rigorous brand strategy. As they embark on a series of critical strategic initiatives, they are seeking a high-level brand expert to help steer the ship and ensure their brand architecture remains as sharp as their market presence.

Job Description

Key Role Information:

  • Role: VP, Brand Manager
  • Duration: 4 months with likelihood to extend
  • Location: Hybrid (New York, NY or Chicago, IL), 2-3 days in office, NYC Preferred
  • Hours/wk: 40 hours/week

This is not your typical campaign-execution role. We are looking for a VP-level brand leader to sit at the heart of brand strategy and bringing it to life through campaign execution. You will be responsible for upfront positioning, brand-building, and the ongoing evolution of the portfolio. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, acting as the engine behind the internal brand lead to ensure that complex, concurrent creative initiatives move forward with precision and purpose.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide a strong, informed point of view on brand positioning and architecture.
  • Project Management: Own the day-to-day project management of multiple, concurrent creative development efforts.
  • Brand Stewardship: Ensure all card branding efforts—from positioning to card mechanics—are viewed through a consistent, high-level brand lens.
  • Operational Excellence: Reduce the operational burden on the internal team by driving follow-through and ensuring connectivity across the broader card portfolio ecosystem.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with the internal brand lead, operating independently while knowing exactly when to escalate and align on big-picture strategy.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Proven track record at the VP level in brand marketing with 7-12 years of experience.
  • Strategic Depth: Demonstrated expertise in brand positioning and brand architecture.
  • Execution Skills: Exceptional project management capabilities with an obsessive eye for detail and follow-through.
  • Autonomy: Comfortable navigating a fast-paced environment with a high degree of independence.
  • Location: Ability to work in a hybrid capacity from either our New York, NY or Chicago, IL offices.
