Job Description:

Title: VP of Commercial Product and Content Strategy, Enterprise

Hybrid: 3 days a week in Midtown Manhattan

Overview

We are seeking a VP, Commercial Product and Content Strategist to help shape the vision, market fit, content lifecycle, and commercial path for WSJ Pro as we launch a new product experience for enterprise audiences. This role sits at the unique intersection of product management, editorial asset utilization, commercial strategy, and customer insight.

A critical focus of this role will be driving innovation and future commercial growth by strategically mapping, structuring, and incorporating Dow Jones B2B content assets into WSJ Pro. By deepening our industry verticals and designing how users discover and experience complex information, you will transform the platform from a premium news service into an essential, AI-driven workflow tool. This role determines what the product should be, who it should serve, how content should be architected and surfaced, and how the platform should evolve to unlock deeper enterprise monetization.

About the Role

As VP, Commercial Product and Content Strategist, you will be responsible for defining the commercial direction of WSJ Pro across product vision, content experience, packaging, and commercial opportunities. You will blend customer insights and market signals with information architecture principles to shape a product-and-content narrative that is clear, highly valuable, and scalable.

The role bridges product development, content management, and commercial execution. You will ensure that WSJ Pro delivers a seamless user experience where flagship consumer brands like The Wall Street Journal are meaningfully integrated with specialized Dow Jones intelligence, AI-generated summaries, and deep-dive B2B data workflows.

You will work in our Midtown Manhattan office 3 days each week.

You Will

1. Define Product Vision & Content Architecture

  • In partnership with the WSJ Pro product team you will help shape the long-term vision for WSJ Pro as a premium enterprise offering anchored in trusted journalism, AI-driven utility, and broader Dow Jones B2B capabilities.

  • Partner with editorial, audience insights, and data teams to continuously audit and discover high-value content, ranging from newsletters to deep-dive data feeds, and collaborate with the product team to optimize how these assets are surfaced, packaged, and delivered across the platform and APIs.

  • Evaluate the Dow Jones content portfolio to identify high-value assets that can be pulled into specialized WSJ Pro verticals to increase customer lifetime value.

  • Translate complex product and content choices into clear, cohesive narratives that align Product, Editorial, Sales, Marketing, and senior leadership.

  • Deeply understand B2B buyer and user personas to guide how new features, newsletters, and API capabilities are introduced to the market. Partner closely with product and marketing teams to build cohesive, insight-driven commercial launch strategies.

2. Design the Content Experience & Discovery Journey

  • In partnership with the product team help shape the commercial strategy for AI-driven capabilities, such as automated industry summaries, custom alerts, and personalized news streams, ensuring automated tools enhance content readability and workflow relevance.

  • Refine content discovery pathways by mapping content consumption habits and industry-specific needs to distinct buyer and user personas.

  • Partner directly with Editorial and UX Design teams to continually optimize the value perception of content, ensuring that complex information is presented in intuitive, digestible formats.

3. Shape the Commercial Path & Packaging Strategy

  • Monetization & Entitlements: Help define the commercial model for WSJ Pro, aligning feature differentiation, content entitlement structures, and product packaging to drive enterprise growth.

  • Advanced Extensions & Workflows: Collaborate with commercial, sales, and finance stakeholders on pricing direction, bundle logic, and opportunities tied to specialized platform integrations, APIs, and future industry add-on modules.

  • Evolutionary Roadmap: Inform the strategic product path from MVP to advanced offerings, identifying content gaps or integration opportunities that can support rapid new-logo acquisition and expansion within existing accounts.

  • Own the translation of technical product features and complex content packages into clear, compelling B2B value propositions. Define the core messaging frameworks and positioning strategy that differentiate WSJ Pro verticals in the enterprise market.

  • Partner closely with Product, Sales, and Acquisition teams to inform core value propositions, product/content positioning, persona messaging, and launch strategies.

4. Bring Market and Customer Insight into Commercial Strategy

  • Synthesize market research, user testing, and customer feedback to continually refine content selection, feature prioritization, and user journey optimization.

  • Pinpoint where unmet user workflow opportunities exist and determine how combining WSJ reporting with Dow Jones data assets can solve those professional friction points.

  • Monitor emerging B2B information trends, digital media formats, and competitor content strategies to maintain a distinct competitive advantage in the market.

  • Own the generation of deep audience insights by defining content consumption trends, identifying behavioral signals across distinct industry verticals, and translating those habits into actionable GTM recommendations that directly inform product positioning and content priorities.

You Have

  • 20+ years of experience in product strategy, content strategy, product management, digital media strategy, or information architecture

  • Proven experience working within a B2B, media, SaaS, subscription, or financial/information-services environment

  • Strong background in B2B product positioning, defining ideal customer profiles (ICPs), and translating user behavior into actionable insights that fuel go-to-market messaging and revenue growth

  • Strong ability to connect content curation, information design, and product features with clear commercial outcomes and go-to-market execution

  • Experience or strong comfort working with multi-product or multi-audience portfolios, understanding how to map, bundle, and deliver text and data to maximize user engagement and retention

  • Strong capability to combine qualitative customer feedback, editorial realities, and quantitative business data into structured strategic decisions

  • A track record of moving cross-functional teams smoothly from high-level, ambiguous concepts to programmatic execution

  • Excellent storytelling and influencing skills, with the ability to establish quick credibility across highly distinct functional teams (e.g., product, engineering, editorial, and corporate sales)

  • A deep passion for journalism, B2B information ecosystems, digital content design, AI-enabled workflows, and the future of enterprise media
