Lead and build Kontakt.io's first in-house legal function: advise execs on commercial, corporate, data, and employment law; negotiate enterprise SaaS and BAA agreements; manage outside counsel; own governance and compliance (HIPAA, data privacy); and create scalable legal playbooks and templates to support rapid commercial growth.
Kontakt.io is building the platform that care operations run on.
We reduce waste, cut costs, and improve throughput by automating and orchestrating clinical workflows. Using AI, real-time location data (RTLS), and EHR integration, our platform empowers care teams with self-learning agents that adapt in real time — enhancing operational performance and transforming patient care.
We’re trusted by HCA, Dignity Health, Mercy Health, Trinity Health, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and we’ve quadrupled our ARR in the last 24 months. Backed by Goldman Sachs, we’re scaling toward $100M+ ARR in the next two years — and we’re looking for a VP Legal to help build the foundation that scales our next phase of growth.
As VP Legal, you’ll be the company’s first in-house legal leader — building and running a lean, high-performing legal function that supports our commercial scale, protects our IP, and manages risk with speed and pragmatism. You will
- Be the legal engine of our growth: advise the executive team and department heads on commercial, corporate, data, and employment law across the U.S. and Europe.
- Structure and negotiate enterprise SaaS agreements with the largest health systems in the U.S., balancing customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and Kontakt.io’s business goals.
- Manage outside counsel relationships (corporate, employment, IP, regulatory) and define when to bring work in-house.
- Own corporate governance: maintain clean cap tables, board consents, and subsidiary structure in alignment with CFO, CRO, and CEO.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, data privacy, and healthcare regulatory frameworks in partnership with our Security & Compliance team.
- Shape the next stage: help evolve policies, templates, and playbooks as we scale toward $100M+ ARR, multiple geographies, and enterprise-level contracts.
- Be a cultural leader — practical, fast, and business-minded; a “yes, if” partner, not a “no” gatekeeper.
What Success Looks Like
- 30 Days: Understand our business, risk landscape, and contracting flow. Build relationships with execs, finance, and go-to-market teams.
- 60 Days: Take over day-to-day contract review and outside counsel coordination. Introduce structure and predictability to legal workflows.
- 90 Days: Become the go-to advisor for complex deal negotiations and compliance matters. Deliver a scalable legal ops process that reduces friction.
- 6 Months: Own the legal domain — from commercial and corporate to compliance and governance — and act as trusted advisor to the CEO, CRO and CFO.
You’re a Fit If You…
- Have 10+ years of legal experience, with a mix of law firm and in-house roles (preferably in healthcare, SaaS, or regulated tech).
- Have a JD and active bar membership (New York preferred).
- Have deep experience negotiating enterprise SaaS / BAA contracts and managing data protection and compliance.
- Are business-first: you translate legal risk into operational decisions, not paralysis.
- Have built or scaled a legal function from scratch in a growth-stage or Series B–D environment.
- Thrive in fast, dynamic, cross-functional settings — working side-by-side with Sales, Product, and Finance.
- Are pragmatic, direct, and grounded — focused on outcomes, not memos.
Benefits
- Equity in a high-growth company on a clear trajectory toward $400M+ ARR
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
- Paid time off plus 10 paid holidays
- The tech, tools, and autonomy you need to do your best work
