About the job:Top European Bank with significant New York operations is looking for a Corporate Credit Underwriter. The primary objective of this position is to drive material and visible improvement in Credit Risk Management’s (CRM) ability to effectively risk underwrite transactions and manage an existing client portfolio, consistent with industry best practices. Vice President is expected to contribute to leading the internal execution and risk management process within CRM group. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, leading and managing several industry verticals whose main purposes is client transaction credit underwriting and execution, documentation negotiation and deal closing, and ongoing credit monitoring and portfolio management. This person also will assist in providing leadership management necessary to ensure that CRM has proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to efficiently grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:
- Underwrite new transaction proposals within multiple verticals. Proposals to include, amongst other things, in-depth financial due diligence of borrowers, industry research, financial forecasting (when necessary), and strong comprehension of specific transaction structures.
- Safeguarding quality control of credit underwriting to ensure market best practices are adopted and enforced across each borrower.
- Strong understanding of transactional documents, including credit agreements, reimbursement agreements, ISDA documentation, etc.
- Coordinate with Credit Risk Officers, Relationship Managers and Product Specialist to ensure that proposed transactions terms are acceptable to the Bank and to set appropriate global credit limits for both new and existing clients.
- Oversight of the preparation of credit applications, in compliance with the Bank’s risk policy and procedure.
- Ensure appropriate processing of transaction-related requests, such as amendments and waivers to existing credit documentation.
- Management of ongoing credit monitoring as per internal policy, including periodic reviews of assigned portfolio.
Qualifications:
- 8 to 15 years of Large Corporate or Large Middle Market credit risk underwriting experience within a corporate or commercial banking environment.
- Analytical orientation, critical thinking skills, and autonomous decision-making ability.
- Strong communication and business writing skills.
- Solid level of credit risk skills, including the ability to work across complex structures and products.
- Proficiency in understanding legal documentation, term sheets, etc.
- Ability to create a strong network of relationships among peers, internal partners, external constituencies and decision makers to deliver end products.
- Strong understanding of policies, procedures, compliance and approval process at a Corporate Bank, including comprehension of US lending regulations.
- Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting; MBA is a positive but is not required.
- Certified with GARP SCR or CFA ESG Investing highly preferable, but not required.

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $150,000 to $160,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
