ABOUT THE ROLE

Location: Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Status: Full-Time/ 100% on-site

Compensation: $50,000 - $60,000/annually

Position Summary:

Kith Women’s is looking for an assistant designer to support the women’s team specifically in Cut & Sew or Wovens responsibilities. This individual will ideally have 1-2  years of experience in apparel design, be knowledgeable of the brand identity and be willing to work on site 5 days a week. Team player, accountable, highly organized and possesses a natural, yet professional ease at working with and relating to the needs of the business in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Comb through production emails that pertain to your designer’s styles, flagging, and drafting responses before reviewing and finalizing responses with designer.
  • Setting up documents such as line sheets, tech-packs or processing design comments as directed by designer.
  • Setting up tech design hand off sketches, following approved sketch review. Should be accurate and completed the day beforehand to review with designated designer.
  • Take thorough and accurate notes during bi-weekly fittings in support of the designer, and to process production comments.
  • Prepare and build out accurate tech pack shells during development stages.
  • Prepare and build out accurate production comments during production stages.
  • Routinely update all master files, sketches and organize shared drives.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in email etiquette for internal and external emails to suppliers overseas.
  • Highly organized and meets given deadlines.
  • Capable of maintaining positive and professional working relationships with cross functional team members and departments.

Special Projects/Tasks:

  • Capable of finishing out tasks such as production comments as advised by manager.
  • Capable of active engagement in fittings through thorough note taking per designated product categories.
  • Capable of finishing or setting up tech pack templates per designated product categories, including uploading.
  • Capable of flagging and drafting emails that require attention per assigned style,  prior to reviewing with designated manager.
  • Capable of managing weekly design presentation tools across designated product categories, updating sketches as advised, and organizing as advised by designer.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in apparel design, womenswear specific is a plus
  • Experience in taking notes during fittings and applying them accordingly/communicating cross functionally where needed
  • Experience in developing soft and hard trims as directed by designer
  • Experience in building out tech pack shells at a level of proficiency with high accuracy as directed by designer
  • Experience and proficiency in executing production comments as directed by designer

Skills:

  • Extremely organized, detail oriented, and analytical
  • Strong note taking skills
  • Strong computer skills in Adobe Illustrator
  • Excellent in accountability, thoroughness and attention to detail 
  • Contributes positively to team dynamic
  • Knowledgeable of general apparel construction
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities
  • Possess a natural, yet professional ease at working with and relating to the needs in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Must be flexible to adapt to these changing business needs or special projects
  • Must be able to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality where appropriate
