Workflow Support Lead

Opportunity/Summary

The Workflow Support Lead provides Tier 1 technical and workflow support for complex episodic and feature projects, serving as a technical advisor to producers, colorists, engineers, and other stakeholders from pre-production through project completion. The role supports dailies infrastructure, hardware and software, networking, color science, framing, VFX and finishing workflows, and helps ensure technical continuity throughout the post-production process.

This role also serves as a technical resource and mentor to Dailies Assists/Technicians, helping resolve complex issues, expand team knowledge, and strengthen overall technical capabilities. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong technical and interpersonal skills who can quickly learn new technologies and effectively translate technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences. The primary shift is evening/overnight, with occasional extended hours during project launches or tight deadlines, as well as a willingness to travel.

Primary Responsibilities

• Ingest, transcode, sync sound, back up, archive, and facilitate deliverable uploads; Assist Dailies Operators/Colorists as required. 

• Provide Tier 1 technical and workflow support for complex projects and issues beyond the scope of Dailies Assist/Technicians.

• Serve as a technical advisor to producers, colorists, engineers, and other internal and external stakeholders during pre-production and throughout the project lifecycle.

• Support the setup, deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of dailies infrastructure, hardware, software, storage, and networking.

• Support workflows involving color science, color management, resolution, aspect ratios, framing, codecs, camera formats, VFX, and finishing.

• Help maintain workflow continuity between dailies and downstream post-production departments, including VFX and finishing.

• Troubleshoot and support post-production applications, including Colorfront, Resolve, FilmLight, Adobe CC, and Avid.

• Support workflows involving prominent camera systems and formats, including ARRI, Sony, RED, Blackmagic, and others.

• Mentor and support Dailies Assists/Technicians by sharing technical knowledge and helping develop their troubleshooting skills.

• Collaborate with engineers and other team members to solve technical challenges and adapt workflows to changing technologies and client requirements.

Secondary Responsibilities

• Assist with monitor/display calibration and color-critical environments.

• Support storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, DAS, and NVMe.

• Support LTO tape and archiving workflows.

• Assist with A/V systems and related technology.

• Use command-line tools, scripting, or basic programming concepts as needed.

• Contribute to team documentation and knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications (Must Have)

• Experience working in post-production and/or dailies.

• Knowledge of picture-industry technology, standards, codecs, formats, and practices.

• Understanding of the post-production pipeline, including VFX and finishing.

• Strong understanding of resolution, aspect ratios, and framing.

• Working knowledge of color science and color management.

• Experience with post-production software such as Colorfront, Resolve, FilmLight, Adobe CC, and/or Avid.

• Familiarity with professional camera systems and formats, including ARRI, Sony, RED, Blackmagic, or comparable systems.

• Experience troubleshooting computer, storage, and networking hardware.

• Working knowledge of networking concepts and technologies.

• Working knowledge of macOS/OS X, Windows, and Linux operating systems.

• Familiarity with command-line interfaces.

• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems in a fast-paced production environment.

• Strong organizational and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies, systems, and workflows.

• Ability to work collaboratively with producers, colorists, engineers, and other stakeholders.

• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional extended hours based on project needs.

• Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Experience with Python, scripting, or basic programming principles.

• Experience with storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, DAS, and NVMe.

• Experience calibrating professional monitors/displays.

• Experience with LTO tape and archiving workflows.

• Knowledge of A/V systems and related technology.

• Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other support or technical staff.

• Experience supporting complex workflows across on-set, near-set, facility-based, and/or remote environments.
