NYC fintech startup Jetty launches in multiple states

Jetty, a New York-based fintech startup modernizing the insurance industry for city renters and co-op owners, launched in multiple states this week. The company offers a variety of traditional insurance products, as well as Jetty Passport, a suite of unique renters services which help tenants obviate requirements like posting a security deposit or finding a guarantor. Data analysis startup ActionIQ raises $13 million led by Sequoia

ActionIQ, which wants to help marketing employees navigate big data without having to write code, announced a new $13 million round led by Sequoia Capital. The new capital will be used to expand the company’s sales and marketing teams as well as further business development. [VentureBeat]

 

Outcome Health announces new executive hire

Outcome Health, a leading health decision support platform, announced this week that Blake Chandlee joined the company as EVP of Industry Solutions and Emerging Businesses. In this role, Chandlee will lead Outcome Health’s industry expansion by collaborating with its partners in the life sciences, payer and healthcare services industries to bring actionable information and intelligence into critical moments of healthcare decision making. Bizzabo raises $6.5M

Bizzabo, a startup that simplifies marketing events, announced it raised a $6.5M round this week. The round was led by Zvi Limon, a founding partner of Magma Venture Capital; Galileo Technology and Annapurna Labs co-founder Avigdor Willenz; and angel investor Danny Tocatly. Returning investors LionBird, Kaedan Capital, Yair Tauman, Gigi Levy, Eyal Ofer and Eli Alroy also participated. The company will use the new capital to continue to develop and add functions to its cloud-based event management platform. [TechCrunch]

 

Lerer Hippeau makes its first foray into cannabis with LeafLink investment

Lerer Hippeau, a New York-based venture capital firm that’s invested in companies like BuzzFeed, Casper and Oscar Health, led a $3 million seed round for Manhattan cannabis startup LeafLink. The company plans on using the funding to expand to California, Nevada and Oregon. [Crain’s New York]


Insurance startup Lemonade expands outside of New York

New York City-based Lemonade, an artificial intelligence-powered app that offers renters, condo and home insurance, announced it has launched in Illinois, its second state outside New York. Looking ahead, the startup is aiming to reach 97 percent of the U.S. population by the end of 2017. [New York Business Journal]


Bustle, Flatiron School announce partnership to help women score tech jobs in media

This week, web development bootcamp Flatiron School partnered with digital media site Bustle to extend over $100,000 in scholarship money to Flatiron School’s Online Web Developer Program. In total, Bustle and Flatiron School will award 25 women 50 percent scholarships, cutting tuition for the develop program by $750 per month. [Built In NYC]
