From Midtown to Brooklyn, each NYC neighborhood has its own charming qualities, and the same can be said for these workspaces. We checked out the offices of four of NYC tech’s growing companies for a glimpse of what it would be like to work there — think: fun rooftop happy hours and outdoor meetings at Hudson River Park. See what else these employees get to experience every day.

While healthcare data analytics company Crossix has many great features in its Midtown office, probably the best part about it is the view. The company’s private rooftop is surrounded by skyscrapers and overlooks  tourist hotspots. Marketing Manager Sarah Czarnowski told us what else the team loves about their space.

How many employees work in the space?

We have 130 and growing!

How many square feet is the space?

We currently have around 30,000 square feet, but we are in the process of expanding to additional floors.

When did your company move into the space?

July 2017.

What is your favorite part of the office?

Now that it’s warm out, a lot of people love to bring their laptops upstairs to the private rooftop to enjoy the sun while getting their work done. After work, it turns into a great happy hour spot with good music, our kegerator and an ample supply of wine. It’s pretty hard to beat watching the sunset over the city.

Is there anything else unique about the space you’d like to share?

While Midtown isn’t the most exciting of locations, it is convenient. We have no shortage of tasty lunch options — plus Bryant Park is just down the street, which is perfect for getting out of the office and enjoying some good ol’ NYC people watching.

The office of big data company Unacast is full of vibrant colors and modern decor. Project Manager Linda de la Fonteijne gave us a digital tour of the Midtown workspace and explained why the floors are so clean.

How many employees work at the office?

We have 19  based out of our NYC office, and we occasionally have employees from our Oslo office filtering in and out.

How big is the space?

2,100 square feet.

When did you move in?

August 2017.

What's your favorite part of the space?

Even though we each have a desk, I love that there are so many other spots to work from. In the afternoons, I love working on the couch or at the communal table in the kitchen where we all eat lunch together on Mondays and Fridays.

Is there anything unique about your office you'd like to share?

In keeping with our Norwegian principles, we don't wear shoes in our office. It makes everyone feel more comfortable and at home. Plus, we each have an annual sock budget to step up our sock game!

Real estate startup Nooklyn is headquartered in Brooklyn, with four storefronts located throughout NYC. The office has an eclectic vibe, with a mix of unique antiques and modern furniture and greenery throughout. Chief People Officer Noble Novitzki showed us around.

How many employees work at the office?

We have 25 employees, 350 independent contractor agents, and 15 freelance photographers and writers that work out of four storefronts and one headquarters space.

How big is the space?

In total, around 4,000 square feet among six spaces.

When did you move in?

We opened our headquarters in 2012 and expanded once in 2014 and again in 2017.

What's your favorite part of the space?

For me, the best part of being at a Nooklyn office is meeting new people. Whether they are Nooklyn agents and employees with creative projects, clients moving from all over NYC and the world, or entrepreneurs searching for storefronts and offices, we get to spend our workdays with fascinating and fun people who are engaged in every kind of New York project.

Is there anything unique about your office you'd like to share?

Our CEO Harley Courts lent his personal aesthetic to our decorating style. Antiques, murals and greenery accompany modern furniture and Apple computers. We prefer comfortable and unique, but not overloaded with tchotchke. Also, we serve Caffe Vita, which is amazing coffee!

Adhawk’s Chelsea offices are located in the middle of an action-packed area of NYC. Resting in between Chelsea Market and the High Line, the office is especially attractive in the warmer months, when employees can get outside and enjoy the sun. Co-founder and COO Dan Pratt told us what else he loves about the office.

How many employees work at the office?

40.

How big is the space?

Two floors and over 4,500 square feet.

When did you move in?

October 2016.

What's your favorite part of the space?

Our location is incredible! We're steps from Chelsea Market, the High Line and Hudson River Park. On nice days, you'll see various team members take their meetings outside to enjoy the weather. Oh, and the Artichoke Pizza on our corner doesn't hurt either.

Is there anything unique about your office you'd like to share?

Our space was occupied by an art gallery for 20 years before we moved in. To pay homage to their time here, we hired the NYC artist Joe Geis to paint a mural in our kitchen area. It's a pretty big crowd pleaser when we bring clients into the office.
